The appeal against composer and broadcaster Yoo Jae-hwan’s alleged indecent assault has been dismissed.
On the afternoon of the 16th, the 3-1 Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Court held the appellate sentencing hearing for Yoo Jae-hwan’s indecent assault charges.
Yoo Jae-hwan is accused of indecently assaulting a victim after posting on Instagram in June 2023, offering to compose songs without charge. Previously, in November last year, Yoo Jae-hwan was found guilty in the first trial and sentenced to a fine of 5 million won.
However, Yoo Jae-hwan’s side filed an appeal, citing misunderstanding of facts, misapplication of law, and unfair sentencing.
On this day, the court stated, “We find the original judgment to be just. There appears to be no reason to change the sentence. The defendant’s argument regarding unfair sentencing is difficult to accept,” dismissing both the prosecution’s and Yoo Jae-hwan’s appeals.
