K-pop sensation BTS has achieved remarkable global success, securing the top spot on Spotify’s prestigious weekly charts for an impressive second consecutive week with their highly anticipated latest album, “Arirang.” The septet’s agency confirmed this groundbreaking achievement on Saturday.
According to BigHit Music, the beloved K-pop group maintained its dominant position across three key global music streaming charts on Spotify: Weekly Top Albums Global, Weekly Top Songs Global, and Weekly Top Artists Global. This continued reign covered the week spanning from March 27 to Thursday.
Beyond their weekly chart victories, BTS also demonstrated consistent popularity on Spotify’s daily rankings. The group held the number one position on both the Daily Top Artists Global and Daily Top Songs Global charts for 14 consecutive days, commencing March 20, the very day “Arirang” was released worldwide.
The album’s captivating main track, “Swim,” is rapidly gaining significant traction on YouTube. For the week of March 20, “Swim” amassed an astounding 83 million plays on the platform’s global weekly chart, alongside a strong 6.2 million plays on the US weekly chart, highlighting its widespread appeal.
Further solidifying their global impact, “Arirang” made an explosive debut at No. 1 on the prestigious US Billboard 200 albums chart this week, while its lead single “Swim” simultaneously premiered at No. 1 on the highly competitive Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
This new album marks a significant return for BTS as a complete seven-member group, following a nearly four-year hiatus from collective projects. To celebrate their comeback, the group hosted a massive promotional concert for tens of thousands of dedicated fans at Gwanghwamun Plaza in central Seoul on March 21.
Fans worldwide can look forward to the “BTS World Tour Arirang,” set to kick off in Goyang, northwest of Seoul, on April 11. The global tour will continue to captivate audiences in major cities across the world throughout 2027. (Yonhap)
