BTS Reflects on Enduring Bond and Future in Exclusive Zane Lowe Interview: “We’re Still Here Because We Love Each Other”

Global superstars BTS opened up about their unwavering bond, reflections on their time away, and optimistic outlook for the future in a recent interview with Zane Lowe. The group hinted at the possibility of continuing to perform together for decades to come.
The highly anticipated interview, released on Apple Music’s official YouTube channel on Friday, features BTS discussing their comeback and new album, “Arirang.”
Zane Lowe, host of “The Zane Lowe Show” on Apple Music 1, conducted the insightful session at Hybe’s headquarters in Seoul.
Throughout the 40-minute conversation, the members delved into the themes of their new album, their feelings about returning to music after individual pursuits, the creative process behind “Arirang,” their personal growth during military service, and the enduring strength of their team dynamic.
RM, the leader of BTS, explained the significance of their fifth full-length album, “‘Arirang’,” stating, “Choosing the keyword ‘Arirang’ felt natural. ‘Arirang’ is a traditional Korean folk song that carries a sense of longing and nostalgia within its abstract lyrics. During our military service, we reflected on the time that had passed, missed our fans, and looked back on the moments we shared together. We tried to capture those emotions in the album.”
The members consistently highlighted their strong connection and loyalty to each other.
“We’re still here because we love each other so much,” RM emphasized, adding, “We have our fans, and there’s no reason for us to give up this precious brand and family.”
He further elaborated, “These people (the members) are my youth itself, which is why I don’t want to miss this opportunity.”
Suga echoed this sentiment, stating, “If we want to, I think we could continue as a team even into our 80s or 90s,” expressing a long-term vision for the group’s future.
“Arirang” made a monumental debut on Friday, selling approximately 3.98 million copies. The lead track, “Swim,” quickly ascended to the top of music charts, including Melon’s Top 100, demonstrating the immense popularity of the group’s latest release.
The music video for “Swim” has already garnered significant attention, surpassing 36 million YouTube views as of 6 p.m. Saturday.
