SHINee member Key has made his first public appearance in six months, following a hiatus due to the “injection aunt” controversy involving alleged illegal medical practices.
According to SM Entertainment on the 11th, SHINee is set to release their sixth mini-album, ‘Atmos,’ on June 1st.
The upcoming ‘Atmos’ album will feature a total of six tracks spanning various genres, including the highly anticipated title track. This marks SHINee’s first new release in approximately one year since their single ‘Poet | Artist’ in May of last year, generating significant interest and high expectations from fans worldwide.
While SHINee previously showcased “new SHINee-ness” with their 8th full-length album ‘HARD’ in 2023, this latest mini-album promises to deliver their “most SHINee-like” musical world, emphasizing their signature sophisticated and sensual charm.
Amidst these announcements, the ‘Atmos’ schedule film was unveiled through SHINee’s official channel. This video, which previews the group’s comeback schedule, notably featured Key appearing as a charismatic weathercaster. Key, sporting a new short blonde hairstyle, immediately captured attention with his powerful visuals. His appearance has become a hot topic, especially since he had suspended activities following the “injection aunt” controversy. However, public sentiment regarding his return to the spotlight remains sharply divided.

Previously, in December of last year, Key became embroiled in allegations of having connections with the “injection aunt” (Ms. A), along with broadcaster Park Na-rae and others. At the time, Key’s agency, SM Entertainment, issued a statement explaining, “Key first became acquainted with Ms. A, whom he understood to be a doctor, when he visited a hospital in Gangnam-gu recommended by an acquaintance. He subsequently continued to receive medical treatment at that hospital, and more recently, due to difficulties in visiting the hospital, he received treatment at home on a few occasions.”
Following the revelations, Key released a statement, saying, “I have always prided myself on being able to distance myself from such issues, but I realize that belief prevented me from observing my surroundings more wisely. I feel incredibly sorry and ashamed towards the many people who believed in and supported me. I promise to faithfully do everything within my power to address this matter. I will once again take time for self-reflection and re-evaluate my environment,” thereby announcing a suspension of all his activities.
Consequently, Key stepped down from various entertainment programs he was starring in at the time, including MBC’s ‘I Live Alone’ and tvN’s ‘Amazing Saturday.’ With Key’s return now, six months after the controversy erupted, attention is keenly focused on whether his current activities will successfully sway public opinion in his favor.
Meanwhile, prior to the new album’s release, SHINee will host their eighth solo concert, ‘- The Trilogy I – 2026 SHINee WORLD VIII : ‘THE INVERT’,’ over three days from May 29th to 31st at the KSPO DOME in Olympic Park, Seoul.
