Singer Im Young-ho, known by his stage name Wistory, has passed away at the age of 49. His girlfriend took on the role of chief mourner for his funeral.
On the 15th, Ms. A, the late Im Young-ho’s girlfriend, announced via his SNS account, “Having spent a long time with ‘oppa’ (a term of endearment for an older male) and lived with him like family, I carried out the three-day funeral as a spouse would.” According to the obituary previously released by A, she was listed alongside the deceased’s sister, Ms. Im, on the list of chief mourners and family. Her designation as ‘spouse’ particularly garnered attention.
A shared, “Thanks to the many people who visited and extended their warm condolences, we were able to send Young-ho off peacefully, ensuring he wasn’t lonely.” She added, “Oppa is currently resting comfortably in room 207, unit 119, at the Jeju Yangji Gongwon Memorial House No. 2. I sincerely thank everyone who joined us, prayed for him, and sent their heartfelt thoughts.”
She continued, “I hope everyone stays healthy and happy. I will contact you all soon. Thank you.” A also penned a poignant message to the deceased: “Goodbye, oppa. My oppa, who worried only about me until the very end. You used to sing, ‘You are my last love,’ and truly, I became your last love. Thank you. In our next life, let’s meet much sooner and love even more. I love you.” This heartfelt tribute added to the sorrow.
Meanwhile, Im Young-ho was active under the stage name Wistory. After releasing his EP album ‘Whispers’ in 2009, he released various songs, including ‘A Trip to You,’ ‘Tropical Night,’ ‘Late Homecoming,’ ‘I Believed in Love,’ ‘Scent of Spring,’ and ‘Sehwa Beach.’ He also worked as a photographer and videographer in Jeju.
The deceased’s funeral was held at Jeju Hon-gil Funeral Home, with the enshrinement taking place on the 12th and the final departure on the 13th.
