Global K-Pop sensation BTS (RM, Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, V, Jungkook) has been honored with the prestigious ‘Song of the Summer’ award at the American Music Awards (AMA), one of the three most influential popular music awards in the United States.
On May 25th at 5 PM (local time), the beloved idol group BTS claimed the ‘Song of the Summer’ title for their dynamic comeback track, ‘SWIM,’ during the American Music Awards (AMA) ceremony held at the iconic MGM Grand Garden Arena in the U.S.
Adding to their evening, BTS also graced the stage as presenters for the ‘Best Female R&B Artist’ award. Group leader RM shared his enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to be part of the ‘AMA’.” Following his remarks, BTS proudly handed the trophy to the deserving winner, SZA.
BTS is set to challenge for their second overall Grand Prize at this year’s ‘AMA,’ a testament to their continued global impact, following their previous win in 2021. The group is nominated in the highly coveted ‘Artist of the Year’ category, placing them in competition with nine other global pop superstars, including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga.
In addition to the top honor, BTS earned nominations in two other significant categories: ‘Best Male K-Pop Artist’ and ‘Song of the Summer.’ These nominations were meticulously determined based on Billboard and Luminate data collected from March 21, 2025, to March 26, 2026. The selection process considered a comprehensive range of fan activity indicators, including streaming numbers, album and digital song sales, radio airplay frequency, and tour revenue.
Over the years, BTS has accumulated an impressive total of 12 trophies at the ‘AMA,’ both as a group and through solo endeavors. Their first triumph came in 2018 with ‘Favorite Social Artist,’ a category they dominated for three consecutive years until 2020. In 2019, they further cemented their influence in the concert industry by winning ‘Tour of the Year.’ That same year, they began an incredible four-year winning streak in the Pop Duo/Group categories, starting with ‘Favorite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock’ and continuing until 2022, making them the most awarded artists in that segment. Their monumental year in 2021 saw them achieve a triple crown, sweeping ‘Artist of the Year,’ ‘Favorite Duo or Group,’ and ‘Favorite Pop Song.’ In 2022, BTS was recognized as the inaugural recipient of the newly established ‘Favorite K-Pop Artist’ award. Furthermore, in 2025, RM independently secured a trophy in the same category.
Beyond BTS’s achievements, this year’s ‘AMA’ ceremony also amplified anticipation with nominations for other prominent K-Pop artists such as Jennie, Stray Kids, Aespa, ATEEZ, Tomorrow X Together (TXT), ENHYPEN, ILLIT, LE SSERAFIM, and KATSEYE across various major categories.
