Global fans are buzzing after Netflix released a standalone studio live performance video of “SWIM” from the BTS documentary, *BTS: The Return*.
On March 30th, Netflix unveiled the studio performance video of BTS’s song “SWIM” from their upcoming album *ARIRANG* via their official X (formerly Twitter) account and the Netflix Korea YouTube channel. This clip, which was featured at the end of the documentary released on March 27th, has captivated the global fandom since its release.
*BTS: The Return* documents the process of all BTS members reuniting in Los Angeles in August 2025, after completing their mandatory military service, to create their fifth full-length album, *ARIRANG*. Directed by Bao Nguyen, the documentary captures everything from songwriting and recording sessions to the members’ honest emotions. This marks BTS’s first full-group album release in approximately three years since 2022.
The newly released “SWIM” clip has sparked an explosive reaction among global fans. On X (formerly Twitter), fans are exclaiming, “Jungkook’s explosive performance is legendary,” “Taehyung’s voice, ad-libs, and visuals were all perfect,” and “I want to hear more of Jimin’s bass.” One fan wrote, “Netflix definitely picked the most viral-worthy scene from the documentary to upload.”
According to the documentary, “SWIM” wasn’t initially selected as a lead single candidate. V mentioned it was “completely the opposite” of his initial vision, and Jimin confessed that he hesitated because it was a much calmer song than expected. However, Suga recognized its potential early on. “We’re making a comeback with a song like this? Wouldn’t that be cool?” he said, leading the atmosphere. RM also agreed, saying, “It’s time for us to show a more mature vibe.”
RM described the lyrics of “SWIM” as “a song like an internal monologue of someone, or myself, who feels like they’re about to give up but not quite 100%.” The song’s resonance with fans is heightened by the fact that it incorporates emotions accumulated during their military service.
You can watch *BTS: The Return* on Netflix now, and the “SWIM” studio performance video is also available on the Netflix Korea YouTube channel. Explore BTS’s journey to their new album *ARIRANG* and experience the captivating performance of “SWIM”!
