Global K-pop sensation and BLACKPINK member Lisa (LISA), also a celebrated solo artist, is set to perform at the highly anticipated opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted across North America.
According to reports from prominent US sports media outlets, including The Athletic, on May 8 (local time), Lisa has officially joined the star-studded lineup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, which will be jointly held by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The prestigious opening event will feature an array of global music icons, with Lisa performing alongside Katy Perry, Future, Tyla, Anitta, and other renowned artists, promising an unforgettable start to the international football spectacle.
It is widely expected that Lisa will share the grand stage at SoFi Stadium, one of the primary venues, with pop superstar Katy Perry for their segments of the inaugural show.
Lisa’s participation marks another significant moment for K-pop on the global stage, though it isn’t the first time a K-pop idol has graced a World Cup opening ceremony. Previously, BTS member Jungkook delivered a memorable performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Qatar.
Beyond her World Cup appearance, Lisa is also scheduled for a series of exclusive residency shows titled ‘Viva La Lisa‘ at the iconic Caesars Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas, USA, on November 13-14 and 27-28. Fans can look forward to these highly anticipated performances.
Earlier in 2025, Lisa successfully launched her solo album ‘Alter Ego‘ and concluded BLACKPINK’s immensely successful world tour. She also made a notable appearance at the 2026 Met Gala with her fellow BLACKPINK members, further solidifying her status as a global fashion and music icon.
