Netflix Love Translation Series Success

SEOUL, Feb. 4 (Yonhap) — The highly anticipated romantic comedy, “Can This Love Be Translated?,” has maintained its reign at the top of Netflix’s weekly non-English series chart for the second consecutive week, the streaming giant announced Wednesday.

The 12-episode series captivated audiences, garnering an impressive 4.3 million views for the week ending February 1st. This performance surpassed the popular Korean dating reality show “Single’s Inferno: Season 5,” which secured the second position with 3.9 million views.

Starring the talented duo Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung, “Can This Love Be Translated?” tells the charming story of Cha Mu-hee (Go Youn-jung), an actress who unexpectedly achieves global stardom. Opposite her is Ju Ho-jin (Kim Seon-ho), a multilingual translator fluent in six languages, including Italian, English, and Japanese. However, he finds himself struggling to decipher the complex language of emotions.

The series is penned by the renowned Hong Sisters (Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran), the creative force behind numerous hit K-dramas such as “Master’s Sun” (2013), “Hotel del Luna” (2019), and “Alchemy of Souls” (2022-23).

Demonstrating the continued popularity of Korean content, three additional Korean series made it into the top 10 list. tvN’s office drama “Undercover Miss Hong” secured the No. 5 spot with 1.6 million views, while SBS TV’s romantic drama “No Tail to Tell” followed at No. 6 with 1.4 million views. Rounding out the list was ENA’s rom-com “I Dol I” at No. 9 with 800,000 views.
