BTS’s 5th full-length album, ‘ARIRANG’, has been consistently recognized on “Best Albums of 2026” lists by prominent US and UK media outlets, including Complex, Rolling Stone, and NME. The critical acclaim for the album has extended to individual tracks, with songs like ‘Hooligan’ and ‘SWIM’ also earning significant recognition.
Starting on the 12th (local time), American pop culture magazine Complex named ‘ARIRANG’ among its top picks. This was followed by US music publication Rolling Stone on the 15th and UK music outlet NME on the 16th, both designating ‘ARIRANG’ as one of the ‘Best Albums of 2026’. Rolling Stone specifically lauded the release, stating, “Undoubtedly, the biggest news in the 2026 global music market is the comeback of BTS. Through ‘ARIRANG,’ they have magnificently brought Korean essence to life through their music.”
NME hailed BTS as “the world’s biggest boy band,” praising their masterful execution of their signature strength: “the sophisticated blend of their homeland’s cultural heritage with global musical influence. They have splendidly returned to the domain they excel in.”
The British daily newspaper The Telegraph also featured ‘ARIRANG’ in its list of ‘Best Albums Released So Far in 2026.’ The Telegraph remarked, “BTS is the face of K-pop. They have returned to their hip-hop roots, actively incorporating Korea’s unique cultural identity into their music.” American online publication Salon similarly selected ‘ARIRANG’ as one of ‘This Year’s Best Albums,’ citing the album’s dynamic sound and the members’ compelling storytelling.
Individual tracks from the album also received widespread acclaim. Complex highlighted ‘Hooligan’ and ‘2.0’, while NME designated ‘Body to Body’ as a must-listen standout. US music specialist Consequence named ‘SWIM’ and ‘Hooligan’ among the best songs of the first half of 2026, noting, “BTS is proficient in mastering various genres. They unleash intricate raps over gritty hip-hop beats, truly showcasing their worth.”
BTS is scheduled to embark on a European tour, kicking off on the 26th and 27th in Madrid, Spain, with 10 performances across 5 cities. This leg is part of a larger world tour encompassing 88 shows in 34 regions worldwide, with additional dates planned for Japan and the Middle East.
