K-pop sensation Big Bang has officially announced “XX: Cosmos” as the title for their highly anticipated upcoming world tour. This significant title, revealed by YG Entertainment on Wednesday, symbolizes the iconic boy band’s two-decade journey and heralds an exciting new chapter for the group.
Further building anticipation, YG Entertainment simultaneously released official posters detailing the tour’s dates and venues. Notably, the vibrant capital of the Philippines, Manila, has been freshly added to the extensive global itinerary.
According to statements from YG Entertainment, the members of Big Bang themselves actively contributed creative ideas for the tour’s evocative title. The distinctive logo for “XX: Cosmos” was first unveiled to fans in teaser posters following the group’s memorable performance at Coachella in April.
Explaining the profound symbolism, YG Entertainment clarified that “XX” profoundly represents the two decades Big Bang has dedicated to music and shared with their devoted fanbase since their remarkable debut. Meanwhile, “Cosmos” encapsulates the universal principles of profound connection, enduring relationships, and continuous artistic evolution. The agency emphasized, “The title truly embodies Big Bang’s extraordinary 20-year musical journey alongside fans, echoing the boundless meaning of ‘cosmos’ as all that has existed, exists, and will continue to exist.”
The monumental world tour is set to electrify audiences, commencing with a thrilling three-day concert series at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, from August 21 to 23. Following this grand opening, Big Bang will embark on a global odyssey, visiting 19 cities worldwide for an impressive total of 33 spectacular shows. This highly anticipated event marks the K-pop giants’ first extensive world tour in a remarkable nine years, since their acclaimed “Last Dance” world tour back in 2017.
