Lotte Deploys AI Agents in the Workplace
Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin (Lotte Group)

Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin is actively spearheading the conglomerate’s ambitious artificial intelligence transformation (AX) strategy. Earlier this month, he personally participated in the group’s “CEO AI Academy,” demonstrating a hands-on commitment by building AI-powered services and developing an AI agent himself, signaling a swift acceleration in Lotte’s adoption of advanced AI technologies.

This impactful two-day program, held from June 5-6, convened the Chief Executive Officers from 50 Lotte affiliates. Its primary focus was to thoroughly review the group’s comprehensive AI transformation roadmap and strategically explore future business applications of artificial intelligence across its diverse sectors.

During the intensive training session, Chairman Shin actively engaged in creating innovative AI services through “vibe coding” and successfully developed a functional AI agent. This direct involvement powerfully underscores Lotte Group’s unwavering commitment to deeply embed AI capabilities across all facets of its extensive global operations.

“To foster groundbreaking innovation within our workplaces, Lotte is dedicated to empowering all employees with the essential skills to create and leverage AI agents,” Chairman Shin stated, emphasizing the critical importance of accelerating this crucial AI transformation for sustained competitive advantage.

In line with this strategic vision, Lotte Group plans to launch extensive AI-agent development training programs for its entire workforce this year. The integration of AI agents is expected to streamline routine tasks, such as data analysis and report generation, thereby enabling employees to dedicate more time to higher-value, strategic work and significantly boost overall organizational productivity.

To further drive enterprise-wide AI adoption and innovation, Lotte will introduce advanced external generative AI tools next month. Additionally, the conglomerate will host a group-wide “Lotte AI Hackathon” and an AI challenge, designed to showcase cutting-edge AI use cases and foster collaborative innovation across all its affiliates.

Reinforcing its comprehensive AI strategy, Lotte is set to bring together approximately 150 leading AI and IT executives from across the entire group for a specialized two-day AI transformation camp, scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

Operating under the compelling theme “Core Value, Powered by AX,” participants at this executive gathering will share invaluable insights from successful AI implementation cases and engage in critical discussions regarding future-proof business strategies for the rapidly evolving era of advanced AI agents and intelligent automation.
