South Korea’s agriculture ministry announced Thursday its plans to welcome a record 93,500 foreign seasonal workers into the farming sector during the first half of the year.
This substantial intake of foreign agricultural workers marks a significant increase compared to the 77,411 seasonal laborers who arrived in the country throughout the entirety of last year, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Looking ahead, the ministry is committed to enhancing the capabilities of these foreign workers. It plans to distribute essential training content in various foreign languages. Furthermore, in collaboration with the justice ministry, they are exploring the introduction of a new visa category designed to facilitate longer stays for skilled foreign workers within both the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
