Singer Soyou has revealed the full story behind her past dating rumors with trot star Lim Young-woong.
On the 22nd, a video titled ‘The Process of Rumors Spreading in This Industry’ was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Okikik’.
During the broadcast, Soyou discussed the various rumors surrounding her, specifically delving into the details of her dating rumors with Lim Young-woong.
She explained, “We met and greeted each other at the airport. After my staff and I sorted out our luggage, we went to a Korean BBQ restaurant. The owner told me, ‘Lim Young-woong is over there.’ However, since we had already greeted at the airport, and I thought my presence might make him uncomfortable, I simply said, ‘Okay, I understand,’ and that was the end of it.”
Soyou continued, “The restaurant owner posted a photo of Lim Young-woong and me, taken on the same day at the BBQ place, but then either I or Lim Young-woong was edited out. That made the situation even stranger. It was really chaotic at the time.” She added, “I genuinely wanted to clarify, but I felt it would be inappropriate for the name Lim Young-woong to come out of my mouth and potentially cause more issues. So, I waited.”
She then stated, “But Lim Young-woong himself addressed it. Imagine if dating rumors spread that you were seeing someone from BTS, even though it’s completely untrue,” she told Gabi. Gabi responded, “It’s regrettable in many ways, isn’t it?”
The dating rumors involving Soyou and Lim Young-woong initially spread in 2023 after a photo taken with a restaurant owner in Jeju Island was uploaded to social media.
Lim Young-woong swiftly debunked the dating rumors through a live broadcast on his social media, stating, “I came to Jeju Island with composer Jo Young-soo, where we enjoyed delicious food and talked a lot about music.” Soyou’s agency also clarified at the time, “Soyou visited Jeju Island recently for a photoshoot. It was merely a coincidence that her path crossed with Lim Young-woong’s,” concluding the incident as a simple misunderstanding.
