Santos Bravos: Latin Pop-K-Pop Fusion Targets Global Stage

Santos Bravos: Latin Pop-K-Pop Fusion Targets Global Stage
Santos Bravos (Hybe Latin America)

Latin American boy band **Santos Bravos** is making a bold move to transcend regional boundaries, aiming for global recognition by seamlessly blending the vibrant energy of **Latin pop** with the rigorous **K-pop training system** and sophisticated **production model**. This strategic fusion positions them as a truly **global act** in the music industry.

Originating from a popular reality series under **Hybe Latin America**, the dynamic quintet – featuring members Drew, Alejandro, Kaue, Gabi, and Kenneth – officially debuted in Mexico last October. Their journey involved intensive **K-pop-style training**, a key component of Chairman Bang Si-hyuk’s expansive “multihome, multigenre” strategy at Hybe.

Since their impactful debut, **Santos Bravos** has garnered significant attention for their unique sound, which combines the inherent free-spiritedness of **Latin music** with the highly polished and synchronized **K-pop production style**. The group is poised to make a major splash, scheduled for their debut appearances on **Korean music shows** this week.

During a recent **press conference** held at Hybe’s central Seoul headquarters, the members articulated their musical direction and ambitious aspirations, addressing the media in English.

“Our ambition isn’t just to be known in Latin America; our ultimate goal is to connect with audiences worldwide,” stated Gabi. “We’ve dedicated immense effort to this, and we genuinely hope that **fans in Korea** will welcome and embrace our music as well.”

This diverse group unites talent from various cultural backgrounds, including the US, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, and Puerto Rico. Their distinctive music masterfully combines the soulful rhythms and infectious groove of **Latin pop** with the meticulous precision often found in **K-pop**, an approach the members credit for shaping both their artistic expression and personal discipline.

Drew highlighted the group’s current visit to **Korea** as more than just a promotional tour; it’s a valuable learning opportunity. They aspire to gain insights from established **K-pop acts** like BTS, Cortis, Le Sserafim, and Illit, who exemplify excellence in the industry.

“We consider ourselves students during our time here in Korea,” he shared. “Our aim is to absorb everything – from the music and culture to the industry practices – and to grow as much as humanly possible.”

This concept of a **dual identity** lies at the heart of **Santos Bravos’** highly anticipated first EP, titled “**Dual**,” which officially dropped on March 13. Kenneth explained that the album deliberately showcases two contrasting facets of the group: a vibrant, playful persona and a darker, more intense image.

This six-track **EP release** features exciting new material alongside their previously acclaimed singles, “0%” and “Kawasaki.”

“Our intention was to present these two distinct sides of ourselves, but fundamentally, we wanted to be authentic and express our true selves through this album,” Kenneth emphasized. “We strongly believe that when we truly reveal who we are, people can forge a deeper, more meaningful connection with us.”

The EP spotlights two dynamic lead tracks, “**Mhm**” and “**Velocidade**,” perfectly illustrating this powerful contrast.

“We consciously aimed to highlight these two different dimensions of **Santos Bravos**,” Drew elaborated. “‘**Velocidade**’ is an electrifying, fast-paced track that profoundly echoes elements of our Latin culture, whereas ‘**Mhm**’ offers a warmer, more comforting sonic experience. Our goal was to demonstrate that, just like our diverse listeners, we too possess multiple individual facets.”

With “**Velocidade**” drawing inspiration from energetic **Brazilian funk**, Kaue expressed that the track holds profound personal significance for him, as it allowed him to authentically share a vital piece of his cultural heritage.

“As a Brazilian, it’s incredibly special for me to share a segment of my culture,” he reflected. “Witnessing my fellow members embrace it wholeheartedly, and seeing fans who had never sung in Portuguese bravely attempt the language, was an immensely meaningful experience.”

The members collectively characterize themselves as a unique group positioned at the intersection of cultures, effectively infusing genuine **Latin sentiment** within a disciplined **K-pop framework**, all while continuously learning from Korea’s globally renowned entertainment industry.

“Our core strength undeniably lies in our **Latin essence**,” Alejandro affirmed. “We are deeply emotional and in tune with our feelings, and we embrace showing that vulnerability. We sincerely hope that audiences can deeply connect with this authentic aspect of our identity.”

The group further underscored the transformative impact of the rigorous **K-pop training process** on their artistic development and personal growth.

“The demanding nature of the **K-pop methodology** instilled in us invaluable discipline – teaching us effective work ethics, meticulous time management, and the constant drive to push our own boundaries,” Kaue revealed. “It provided us with a crucial understanding that our efforts extend beyond ourselves; we are working for our devoted fans, striving to evolve into the finest artists we can be.”

Despite being in the nascent stages of their promising career, **Santos Bravos** has already achieved considerable **international traction**, making notable appearances at major festivals and even performing as a special guest at a Shakira concert in Mexico.

Looking towards the future, the group articulated their ambitious long-term objective: to grace major stages across each member’s respective home country, connecting directly with their roots.

“We are passionate about representing our origins and aspire to create a secure, welcoming space for our incredible fans,” Kenneth concluded. “Ultimately, we want **Santos Bravos** to stand as a testament that with unwavering hard work and dedication, anything is truly achievable.”
