Blackpink’s Rose has achieved the No. 1 position on the IFPI’s (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) Global Single of the Year 2025 chart, the organization based in Italy announced on Thursday local time.
Her collaborative single with Bruno Mars, “APT.,” became the best-selling single globally in 2025. This accomplishment makes Rose the first artist outside of North America and Europe to claim the prestigious title, according to the IFPI. Psy was the first Korean artist to enter the chart in 2012, followed by BTS in 2020 and 2021, and Jungkook in 2024.
The IFPI also highlighted that “APT.” is “the first winning single to feature non-English lyrics,” marking another significant milestone.
Rose and Bruno Mars opened the Grammy Awards ceremony last month as nominees for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Their hit song “APT.” was also nominated for Song of the Year and Record of the Year, solidifying its status as a global phenomenon.
