While progress may still appear slow, there have been definite positive developments regarding NewJeans’ future. Although Minji’s full rejoining of activities might take more time, these initial signals can be viewed with optimism for the K-pop group’s direction.
The possibility of NewJeans returning as a four-member group is steadily increasing. ADOR, the agency managing NewJeans, issued an official statement on the 7th concerning Minji’s comeback. They stated, “We are continuously discussing her future activities internally. While we cannot provide specific details at this moment, please understand that negotiations are generally proceeding in a positive direction.” This update fuels anticipation for the group’s highly awaited return.

ADOR further amplified the positive sentiment by posting a photo of cookies baked by Minji herself on NewJeans’ official SNS with the caption “HAPPY MINJI DAY.” These delicious cookies were a personal gift from Minji to her fans, distributed when she recently visited a birthday cafe organized to celebrate her special day.
This social media post strongly suggests the increased likelihood of Minji’s return to ADOR and NewJeans. It is highly probable that such a public update would not have been made without Minji’s explicit consent and involvement, indicating an active engagement in her current status.
Previously, NewJeans members sparked considerable curiosity in April when they were spotted by fans in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, leading to widespread speculation about an impending comeback. Documents circulated on social media, reportedly showing a recording studio booked under ADOR’s name from April 13th to 17th in Copenhagen. Adding to the buzz, eyewitness accounts and photos emerged of Haerin and Hyein visiting a Lego store, a well-known Danish toy brand. Reports also mentioned that the members were seen carrying cameras, seemingly for a filming project, suggesting a significant overseas schedule.
ADOR confirmed to StarNews on the 27th of last month, “It is true that Hyein, Haerin, and Hanni visited Copenhagen, Denmark, with staff members.” The agency clarified the purpose of the trip, stating, “NewJeans members’ visit to Copenhagen is part of a pre-production process aimed at capturing a new musical narrative. The NewJeans members are currently preparing for future activities in a way that optimizes their individual conditions and schedules. We plan to officially announce the members’ upcoming endeavors at the most opportune time.”
It was confirmed that Minji did not participate in this particular Copenhagen schedule. However, given that this trip was explicitly stated as a pre-production phase, likely for a song camp or creative development, it is widely interpreted that Minji’s absence does not negatively impact the prospects of NewJeans’ eventual comeback as a four-member unit.
This recent schedule, which occurred after Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein’s confirmed return to ADOR, is being viewed as a crucial “build-up” phase for NewJeans’ highly anticipated comeback. With growing speculation that NewJeans’ official return to the K-pop music scene is merely a matter of time, the excitement and expectations for a four-member comeback are set to intensify.

Nevertheless, there are still significant hurdles to overcome. The ongoing discussions between Minji and ADOR regarding detailed matters indicate that a final and definitive agreement has not yet been reached. Even if her return is officially decided, the preparations for a comeback will undoubtedly require additional time. While this situation may be frustrating for fans eager for their full return, the prevailing sentiment within the industry is that an amicable resolution between both parties remains the top priority for a successful future.
Previously, following the announcement of Haerin and Hyein’s return to activities, ADOR released an official statement on December 29th last year. The statement detailed, “After the final ruling on the lawsuit for confirmation of exclusive contract validity, we have engaged in extensive and sincere conversations with Minji, Hanni, Danielle, and the families of the three members. Following these heartfelt discussions, Hanni respected the court’s ruling and made the decision to continue her activities with ADOR.” They further clarified, “Minji is also currently in discussions with ADOR, and negotiations are actively ongoing. However, in Danielle’s case, it was determined that it would be difficult for her to continue as a NewJeans member and an artist under ADOR, and she has been formally notified of the termination of her exclusive contract.”
Additionally, ADOR announced their intention to pursue legal action, stating, “We plan to hold one member of Danielle’s family and former CEO Min Hee-jin legally responsible for precipitating this dispute and for their significant role in NewJeans’ temporary departure and the subsequent delay in their return to full activities.”
