K-pop girl group NewJeans has achieved another significant milestone by adding a track to its 100 million-stream club on Spotify.
According to Spotify on the 12th, ‘Right Now,’ a track from NewJeans’ Japanese debut single ‘Supernatural,’ has accumulated a total of 100,054,018 streams as of the 10th. This marks their 16th song to surpass the 100 million stream mark across their discography. With this achievement, NewJeans has now seen all tracks from their previously released albums (two EPs, one single album, and two double singles) reach the 100 million-stream category on the platform.
Released on June 21, 2024, ‘Right Now’ features a dynamic Drum & Bass beat and the members’ distinctive, vibrant vocals. It gained widespread popularity for its comfortable yet sophisticated sound, climbing to the top ranks of major domestic music charts alongside its title track ‘Supernatural’ at the time of its release. The song also captivated global listeners, making its way onto the U.S. Billboard ‘Global 200’ and ‘Global Excl. U.S.’ charts.
The music video for ‘Right Now,’ a collaborative effort with world-renowned pop artist Takashi Murakami and the globally popular IP ‘The Powerpuff Girls,’ also generated significant buzz. The video offers continuous visual delight with character versions of the members, infused with the artistry of contemporary artist Takashi Murakami and the aesthetic of the famous American animation ‘The Powerpuff Girls,’ constantly appearing across the screen.
The cumulative total streams for all songs released by NewJeans on Spotify now exceed 7.8 billion. Specifically, ‘Ditto’ and ‘OMG’ have surpassed 900 million streams, ‘Super Shy’ over 800 million, ‘Hype Boy’ over 700 million, ‘New Jeans’ and ‘Attention’ over 500 million, ‘ETA’ over 400 million, ‘Cookie’ over 300 million, ‘Hurt,’ ‘Cool With You,’ ‘How Sweet,’ and ‘Supernatural’ have each exceeded 200 million streams, while ‘ASAP,’ ‘Get Up,’ ‘Bubble Gum,’ and ‘Right Now’ have individually surpassed 100 million streams.
