K-Pop superstars BTS are set to make a highly anticipated return to the ‘American Music Awards’ (AMA) stage, marking their first appearance in five years.
According to an ‘AMA’ announcement made on the 20th (local time), BTS will attend the prestigious awards ceremony on the 25th at 5 PM at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This marks their direct participation in the ‘AMA’ for the first time in approximately five years, following their last appearance in 2021.
BTS is also vying for a top honor at the ‘AMA’, recognized as one of the three most prominent U.S. music awards. The group is nominated in the highly coveted ‘Artist of the Year’ category, where they will compete against nine global pop titans including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga. Notably, BTS made history in 2021 as the first Korean act to win this prestigious award, solidifying their indelible impact on world music.
Beyond ‘Artist of the Year’, BTS has secured nominations in two other significant categories: ‘Best Male K-Pop Artist’ and ‘Song of the Summer’. Their compelling title track ‘SWIM’, from their 5th full-length album ‘ARIRANG’, earned a nomination for ‘Song of the Summer’. Released on March 20th, the track garnered considerable attention when it was included in the nominee list unveiled on April 14th.
Collectively and individually, BTS has amassed an impressive 12 trophies at the ‘AMA’. Their winning streak began in 2018 with ‘Favorite Social Artist’, a category they triumphantly claimed for three consecutive years through 2020. In 2019, the group secured ‘Tour of the Year’, underscoring their profound impact on the global concert scene. That same year marked the start of their dominance in the ‘Favorite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock’ category, which they won for four consecutive years until 2022, cementing their status as the artist with the most wins in this specific category in AMA history.
Their monumental year in 2021 saw them achieve a triple crown, sweeping ‘Artist of the Year’, ‘Favorite Duo or Group’, and ‘Favorite Pop Song’. In 2022, BTS also became the inaugural winners of the newly introduced ‘Favorite K-Pop Artist’ award, a testament to their pioneering influence. Subsequently, in 2025, member RM continued this legacy by winning a trophy in the very same category as a solo artist.
In conjunction with their AMA appearance, BTS is set to captivate fans with their ‘BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN LAS VEGAS’. The tour will span four days, from the 23rd-24th and 27th-28th, at the iconic Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, USA.
