Fashion designer Lee Jung-woo, the mother-in-law of actress Jeon Ji-hyun, has expressed discomfort after her comments regarding the K-pop group BTS became a hot topic.
On March 21st, Lee Jung-woo shared her affection for BTS on her personal Instagram account, stating, “Time flows, and as promised, they have returned, with more mature and powerful music.”
She continued, “Kim Namjoon’s (RM) strength is inevitably prominent in this album. Despite the various opinions, Bang Si-hyuk’s eye for talent, who chose Kim Namjoon first to form the group, should be highly praised.” She added, “Jin, who was the first to enlist during the military service hiatus, completed his service, filled the team’s void alone, and imprinted his presence on the public, deserves a standing ovation all day long.”
“Even though his name might not be on the album credits, he has done work that is a thousand, ten thousand times greater,” she added.
Amidst this, she expressed her discomfort with the attention garnered by her previous BTS-related post.

Previously, on the day of their comeback, March 20th, BTS held a Weverse live broadcast. During the broadcast, RM stated, “There’s only one person who speaks English, but we are loved by ARMY all over the world, and I’m very proud of that.” In response, the other members jokingly said, “You’re proud, but aren’t you also not? We’ve been active for over 10 years, and they still say it’s amazing that we can’t speak English.”
Referring to this, Lee Jung-woo wrote, “A leader who speaks English and kids who still can’t after 10 years. Still, I love them all.” After these remarks sparked unexpected controversy, she stated, “In this country, can’t a celebrity’s family even enjoy fangirling freely?” and “I’m a retired ordinary person of the 8.48 billion people in the world.”
She continued, “Did you even watch the Weverse live before writing this? It was a story that the members were talking about so cheerfully and casually, so I uploaded it to my story because I was laughing and having fun.” She further stated, “Would a 10-year ARMY upload something that criticizes the people they support? I’m not good at English. Even more so, not enough to comment on other people’s English skills.”
