K-Pop boy group CORTIS has shattered the record for the highest debut album sales among all K-Pop groups. This remarkable achievement comes in less than seven months since the album’s initial release.
According to Big Hit Music, a HYBE Music Group label, on the 10th, CORTIS (Martin, James, Joohun, Sunghyun, Gunho)’s 1st mini-album ‘COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES’ has recorded cumulative sales of 2,069,663 copies (based on Circle Chart’s tally up to April 4th).
Since its release last September, this album has consistently seen its sales climb. Notably, it maintained strong momentum even after the initial week’s sales (first-week sales of 436,367 copies) were concluded. The album surpassed 500,000 copies in the same month, 1 million in November, and 2 million in February of this year, highlighting CORTIS’s explosive growth and soaring popularity.
‘COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES’ marked the debut of the five members as a ‘Young Creator Crew,’ actively co-creating the group’s music, choreography, and visual content. The album boldly encapsulates the group’s determination to think freely and break away from the conventional standards and rules set by the world.
Their digital track performance is also exceptionally strong. The popular b-side tracks ‘GO!’ and ‘FaSHioN’ have each garnered over 100 million streams on the global audio and music streaming platform Spotify, and the entire album’s cumulative streams have impressively exceeded 400 million, showcasing their widespread and enduring appeal.
Building on this overwhelming momentum, CORTIS is set to release the title track ‘REDRED’ from their upcoming new album on April 20th. Following the premiere of this title track, which is one of six tracks on the album, the group will embark on extensive promotional activities, including a special ‘release party’ and appearances on major music shows. Since the 6th, the group has been continuously posting album photos, capturing the members’ natural charm, on their official social media channels, significantly building anticipation for their highly anticipated comeback.
Their 2nd mini-album, ‘GREENGREEN’, is scheduled for release on May 4th. This album has already achieved a remarkable 1,969,384 pre-orders within just two weeks of its pre-sales opening. With approximately three weeks still remaining until its official release, CORTIS is strongly poised for a potential consecutive ‘double million-seller’ achievement, further solidifying their status in the K-Pop industry.
