ASTRO member and actor Cha Eun-woo’s recent public appearance has been captured, drawing significant media and fan attention.

On April 28, images of Cha Eun-woo performing on stage at a recent military band event were widely circulated across various online communities and social media platforms.

In the released photos, Cha Eun-woo is seen in a sharp suit, holding a microphone and rendering a salute amidst orchestra members. This marked his first public appearance since tax evasion allegations surfaced in January, making his current status a focal point.

The controversy began in January when Cha Eun-woo reportedly received a notice of substantial income tax collection from the National Tax Service. The NTS raised issues concerning the management contract structure involving a corporation established by his mother. The alleged amount of tax evasion was reported to be around 20 billion Korean Won (approximately $14.5 million USD), sparking widespread discussion.

As the controversy intensified, Cha Eun-woo released a statement affirming, “I will faithfully comply with all future tax-related procedures,” and “I will humbly accept the final decision made by the relevant authorities and take full responsibility for the outcomes.”

Subsequently, on May 8, Cha Eun-woo confirmed that he had paid all the assessed taxes. He expressed, “I sincerely apologize for the disappointment and confusion I’ve caused to many people, including my fans, due to the recent tax controversy. As someone who has been active with the immense love and support of so many, I am taking this matter with profound seriousness.”

The total amount he paid was approximately 13 billion Korean Won (roughly $9.4 million USD). It was also reported that some of the previously paid amounts were recognized as duplicate taxation, leading to a refund for the difference in the final payment.

Meanwhile, Cha Eun-woo enlisted in the military in July last year and is currently fulfilling his service in the military band. His anticipated discharge date is scheduled for January 2027.
