BTS’s comeback single ‘SWIM’ is making waves across global charts!
The title track ‘SWIM’ from BTS’s new album ‘ARIRANG’ has topped Spotify’s ‘Daily Top Song Global’ chart for two consecutive days (March 20-21). The B-side track ‘Body to Body’ secured the 2nd position, maintaining a top spot for both tracks over the two days.
The presence of all the tracks on the album is also remarkable. ‘Hooligan’ (4th), ‘FYA’ (5th), ‘NORMAL’ (6th), ‘Aliens’ (8th), ‘2.0’ (9th), ‘Like Animals’ (10th), ‘Merry Go Round’ (11th), and ‘they don’t know ’bout us’ (12th) are all positioned high on the same chart. Even ‘One More Night’ (17th), ‘Please’ (19th), ‘No. 29’ (21st), and ‘Into the Sun’ (22nd) are ranked consistently, demonstrating a strong presence on global charts.
Domestic reactions are also enthusiastic. The title track ‘SWIM’ topped Melon and Bugs’ daily charts on March 21st, and as of 10 AM on March 23rd, it continues to maintain the top spot on major domestic music real-time charts such as Melon, Bugs, and Genie, continuing its hot streak.
‘ARIRANG’ sold 540,000 copies based on Japan’s Oricon chart on the 22nd, going straight to number one on the ‘Daily Album Ranking’. Furthermore, according to Hanteo Chart on the 23rd, it surpassed 4 million copies in cumulative sales within three days of its release, maintaining the top spot on the daily chart for three consecutive days. Critical acclaim for the new album is also following. The UK’s Guardian praised, “This album is a result worthy of the status of the world’s largest pop phenomenon.”
Meanwhile, BTS released ‘ARIRANG’ on the 20th and kicked off their comeback by holding ‘BTS COMEBACK LIVE : ARIRANG’ in the Gwanghwamun Square area on the 21st.
On the 24th, in collaboration with Spotify, they will host ‘Spotify X BTS: SWIMSIDE’ in New York, USA. On this day, BTS plans to meet local fans and showcase their new song. Following this, they are scheduled to appear on the popular US NBC program ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on the 25th and 26th.
