Top idol group BTS (RM, Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, V, Jungkook) is set to challenge for their second Grand Prize at the ‘American Music Awards (AMA)’, one of the three major popular music awards in the United States.
BTS will attend the ‘American Music Awards’ (hereinafter ‘AMA’) ceremony, scheduled to be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the U.S. at 5 PM (local time) on the 25th. This marks BTS’s direct participation in the ‘AMA’ for the first time in approximately five years, since 2021.
BTS is aiming for their second overall Grand Prize at this year’s ‘AMA’. The group is nominated in the prestigious ‘Artist of the Year’ category, often considered the Grand Prize, competing against 9 global pop stars including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga.

Anticipation is high for whether BTS will secure this prestigious award again, having already made history in 2021 as the first Korean artist to win ‘Artist of the Year’.
In addition to the main award, BTS is also nominated in a total of three categories: ‘Best Male K-Pop Artist’ and ‘Song of the Summer’. The nominees were selected based on Billboard and Luminate data from March 21, 2025, to March 26, 2026, considering key fan activity indicators such as streaming, album and digital song sales, radio airplay, and tour revenue.
Previously, BTS has amassed a total of 12 trophies at the ‘AMA’, both as a group and through solo endeavors. Their first win was for ‘Favorite Social Artist’ in 2018, a category they dominated for three consecutive years until 2020. In 2019, they received ‘Tour of the Year’, showcasing their immense influence in the global concert industry. That same year, starting with ‘Favorite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock’, they topped the Pop Duo/Group categories for four consecutive years until 2022, cementing their status as the artist with the most wins in this specific category.
The year 2021 saw them achieve a triple crown, sweeping ‘Artist of the Year’, ‘Favorite Duo or Group’, and ‘Favorite Pop Song’. In 2022, they became the inaugural winners of the newly established ‘Favorite K-Pop Artist’. Subsequently, in 2025, RM individually took home the trophy in the same category.
Meanwhile, adding to the excitement for this year’s ceremony, other prominent K-pop artists such as Jennie, Stray Kids, aespa, ATEEZ, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ENHYPEN, ILLIT, LE SSERAFIM, and CATSEYE are also nominated in major ‘AMA’ categories.
