BTS’s RM Injured During Rehearsal: Performance Adjustments Expected
RM, a member of the globally acclaimed K-pop group BTS, sustained an injury during a rehearsal for an upcoming performance.
Big Hit Music, the group’s agency, announced on March 20th, that “RM suffered an ankle injury during rehearsal on March 19th. He was taken to the hospital for a thorough examination and treatment. The diagnosis revealed a ‘navicular stress fracture and partial ligament rupture, along with talus contusion (ligament damage and inflammation).’ Doctors advised him to wear a leg cast.”
The agency further stated, “Medical professionals have advised that he minimize movement and focus on recovery for at least two weeks. Prioritizing the doctor’s opinion and to prevent further aggravation of the injury, we have decided to minimize RM’s movements during the Gwanghwamun performance.”
Consequently, RM’s participation in the performance will be adjusted, with certain choreography and stage movements being limited.
Big Hit Music added, “Although his performance will be limited, RM intends to participate in the show to the best of his ability to connect with ARMY (BTS’s fan base) and the audience. As many have eagerly awaited this performance, we will do our utmost to deliver a heartfelt performance.”
Meanwhile, BTS is set to release their 5th full-length album, ‘ARIRANG,’ today and begin their comeback activities. The group will hold ‘BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG’ at Gwanghwamun Square on March 21st, the day following the album’s release. The performance will be broadcast live worldwide via Netflix.
Below is the full statement from Big Hit Music:
Hello.
This is Big Hit Music.
We are providing information regarding BTS member RM’s participation in ‘BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG (BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG),’ scheduled for March 21st.
On March 19th, RM sustained an ankle injury during rehearsal and was taken to the hospital for a thorough examination and treatment. As a result of the examination, he was diagnosed with a ‘navicular stress fracture and partial ligament rupture, along with talus contusion (ligament damage and inflammation).’ Doctors advised him to wear a leg cast and minimize movement for at least two weeks to focus on recovery.
While the artist himself strongly desired to deliver a high-quality performance at the comeback stage in the symbolic space of Gwanghwamun, the company, prioritizing the medical staff’s opinion and preventing further aggravation of the injury, made the difficult decision, together with the artist himself, to minimize RM’s movements during ‘BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG.’
Therefore, we are informing you that RM’s choreography and other performance elements will be limited.
We sincerely apologize for causing concern to the fans and audience who were looking forward to this performance.
Although his performance will be limited, RM intends to participate in the show to the best of his ability to connect with ARMY and the audience. As many have eagerly awaited this performance, we will do our utmost to deliver a heartfelt performance.
The company will prioritize the artist’s health and safety above all else and will spare no effort to support RM in his full recovery so that he can return to activities in perfect condition.
Furthermore, the BTS members are preparing for the performance with their utmost effort, so we ask for your continued support and interest.
Thank you.
