Global sensation BTS has set yet another new record in London, UK.
BTS held their ‘BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN LONDON’ at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, UK, on July 6-7 (local time), performing for approximately 130,000 fans.
Tickets for both nights of the concert sold out instantly upon release. According to Live Nation, the event promoter, this concert attracted the largest audience per show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since its opening in April 2019, setting a new attendance record for the venue.
BTS consistently sets significant records whenever they visit London. In June 2019, they made history as the first Korean act to hold a solo concert at Wembley Stadium, leaving an indelible mark on the global concert scene. Seven years later, their return to London saw them establish another groundbreaking record at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, showcasing their undeniable global dominance.
Even before the concerts, London was abuzz with excitement for BTS. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’s official channels also highlighted their upcoming shows, introducing BTS as ‘Pop Royalty’. The official Tottenham Hotspur Korean account further amplified the anticipation by posting a video featuring ‘SWIM’, the title track from BTS’s 5th full-length album ‘Arirang’, playing through the stadium speakers, welcoming fans from around the world.
Over the two days, BTS delivered perfect live vocals and electrifying performances, maximizing audience engagement. They kicked off the shows with ‘Hooligan’ from their album ‘Arirang’, followed by new tracks like ‘NORMAL’ and ‘Body to Body’, alongside global hits such as ‘IDOL’ and ‘FIRE’, raising the atmosphere to an absolute peak.
The members shared their heartfelt impressions, stating, “We once again felt the same emotion we experienced at Wembley Stadium seven years ago. Thanks to your passion, we had a truly wonderful time today. Many memories from our previous concerts came back, and we were surprised once again by how vibrant London is.”
The international press also lauded the performances. Rolling Stone UK and The Guardian both awarded the concert a perfect 5-star rating. Rolling Stone UK likened the concert to a coronation, praising, “BTS reclaimed their throne as the world’s biggest band.” They further noted that the band delivered a masterclass performance to an audience who had long awaited their return. The Guardian compared the stage to a cinematic experience, calling it an “incredibly enjoyable spectacle” with fireworks and diverse staging. The publication added, “The power BTS possesses is immense.”
The Times, a leading UK daily, gave the concert 4 stars, commending it as a grand stadium show that offered rich visuals and immense energy. It highlighted the massive performances, special effects, and stadium-wide staging, describing the music as “intense and addictive simultaneously.” The paper vividly conveyed the on-site excitement, stating, “The audience’s fervent reaction during the ‘MIC Drop’ and ‘FYA’ stages seemed to shake the stadium.” NME focused on the Korean identity woven throughout the performance, incorporating traditional Korean music, architecture, and dance.
Meanwhile, BTS will continue their European tour by becoming the first Korean act to perform at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, on July 11-12.
