BTS’s ‘Life Goes On’ music video has officially surpassed 600 million views.
The music video for “Life Goes On,” the title track from BTS’s 7th mini-album ‘BE’ (Deluxe Edition), which was released in 2020, exceeded 600 million YouTube views around 12:34 AM on the 12th.
The music video was directed by member Jungkook. The video emanates warmth throughout, from scenes of the members enjoying their daily lives to calmly singing. It tenderly captures the sadness and longing of being unable to meet fans directly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The emotional weight is palpable, vividly reflecting the reality where everything came to a halt, depicted through imagery like a dusty bicycle and the members performing in an empty concert hall.
“Life Goes On” is a heartfelt song that delivers a message of comfort, asserting, “Life goes on, even so,” despite facing situations where one is forced to stop after running hard. It has also surpassed 1.03 billion cumulative streams on the global audio and music streaming platform Spotify (as of July 12). The achievement is particularly notable given that the song primarily features Korean lyrics.
The song also set a significant milestone in the global music market. It clinched the No. 1 spot on the U.S. Billboard main song chart ‘Hot 100’ (dated December 5, 2020) and remained on the chart for three consecutive weeks. At the time, this was profoundly significant as “Life Goes On” became the only Korean-lyric-dominant song to top the Billboard chart in its 62-year history.
Meanwhile, BTS continues to boast numerous music video view counts in the hundreds of millions for their global mega-hit songs. These include ‘Dynamite’ (2.1 billion views), ‘Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey)’ (1.9 billion views), ‘DNA’ (1.6 billion views), ‘MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)’ (1.5 billion views), ‘FAKE LOVE’ and ‘IDOL’ (each with 1.3 billion views), and ‘Butter’ (1 billion views), further solidifying their immense global impact.
