BTS member Jin addresses his name being omitted from the album credits, clarifying the situation surrounding the group’s latest release.
During an interview video with the U.S. music publication ‘Rolling Stone’ on the 15th, Jin discussed various aspects concerning BTS’s 5th full-length album, ‘ARIRANG’.
Jin opened up, stating, “This is an episode I haven’t shared anywhere else, but truthfully, I didn’t work on it much. I was on my solo tour at the time.”
Previously, after the release of ‘ARIRANG’, concerns arose regarding Jin’s name being notably absent from the song credits. While Jin had explained at the time that his late involvement was due to his solo tour schedule, this led to various fan speculations.
Seemingly aware of these discussions, Jin elaborated, “By the time I arrived where the members were having their sessions, over 100 songs had already been created. I spent about 7 to 10 days doing test recordings for the selected tracks. By the time I finished that, the main sessions were already complete.”
He continued, “The sessions were scheduled three months in advance, and my tour was booked several months before that, so the timing simply didn’t align. At that time, some members were also serving in the military, and I was trying to keep fans entertained, so all the songs were finalized during that period.”
The interviewer then remarked, “One wonders how great it would have been to have a few more songwriting credits.” Jin responded with a laugh, “I think so too. However, the members did such a fantastic job, and if I had pushed for the sessions to be delayed by a few more months out of personal ambition, all our interviews would have been postponed. Our fans would also have been bored during those months, wouldn’t they?”
Jin concluded, “It is a little disappointing, but my life isn’t just about the present moment. I believe opportunities will always arise. At that time, it was the best decision we could make.”
