The phenomenal K-pop group BTS has made a significant impact on the U.S. Billboard’s main song chart, the ‘Hot 100’, with a remarkable 10 tracks from their latest album.
According to the latest Billboard charts (dated April 11), announced on the 7th by the prominent U.S. music media outlet, the title track ‘SWIM’ from BTS’s 5th full-length album, ‘ARIRANG’, soared to an impressive No. 2 on the ‘Hot 100’. Out of 14 songs on the album, 10 successfully charted. Following ‘SWIM’ were the tracks ‘Body to Body’ (No. 42), ‘Hooligan’ (No. 64), ‘NORMAL’ (No. 73), ‘FYA’ (No. 74), ‘2.0’ (No. 75), ‘Aliens’ (No. 84), ‘Like Animals’ (No. 90), ‘they don’t know ’bout us’ (No. 94), and ‘Merry Go Round’ (No. 96).
BTS continued to showcase their undeniable presence on the ‘Global’ charts, where they debuted at No. 1 last week. ‘SWIM’ maintained its top position on both the ‘Global 200’ and ‘Global (Excl. U.S.)’ charts for two consecutive weeks. ‘Body to Body’ also secured the No. 2 spot on both charts. Notably, 13 vocal tracks from the album, excluding the sound of the Emille Bell, entered the top 30 on ‘Global (Excl. U.S.)’ and the top 40 on ‘Global 200’. The new album’s widespread global popularity was evident across various Billboard charts. BTS dominated this week’s ‘Artist 100’, ‘Digital Song Sales’, ‘Top Album Sales’, and ‘Billboard 200’ charts, extending their winning streak from the previous week. In a historic achievement, BTS remains the only Korean artist to secure the No. 1 spot on the main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ for two consecutive weeks. They also maintained top-tier rankings, including No. 2 on ‘World Digital Song Sales’ and ‘Streaming Songs’, and No. 3 on ‘Top Streaming Albums’ and ‘Vinyl Albums’.
Their incredible momentum also extends to Japan. According to Oricon on the 8th, ‘ARIRANG’ recorded approximately 8.55 million weekly streams on the ‘Weekly Streaming Ranking’ (dated April 13 / tally period: March 30 ~ April 5), holding the No. 1 spot for two consecutive weeks. This marks the first time a foreign artist has remained at the top for two weeks since ‘APT. (ROSÉ & Bruno Mars)’ in November 2024. Previously, BTS has topped this chart with hit songs like ‘Dynamite’, ‘Film out’, ‘Butter’, ‘Permission to Dance’, and ‘Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)’.
The 5th full-length album ‘ARIRANG’ is BTS’s highly anticipated new release after a 3-year and 9-month hiatus, an album that profoundly explores universal emotions relatable to all.
