Rising K-pop artist Hanroro has topped both the digital and streaming categories for the first half of the year, with her debut EP track “Take-off” securing the No. 1 spot. This impressive achievement for the January-June period was highlighted in a recent midyear report from the Korea Popmusic Industry Association, the official operator of the esteemed Circle Chart.
Originally released in August 2023, “Take-off” steadily climbed the charts, gaining significant traction through grassroots popularity and strong word-of-mouth among younger audiences. It quickly became Hanroro’s signature hit, maintaining a consistent presence within the top 10 of the Circle Chart’s weekly digital and streaming rankings since late November, solidifying its status as one of the standout K-pop tracks of the year’s initial half.
In terms of album sales, K-pop titans BTS achieved the highest sales volume with their fifth studio album, “Arirang.” The acclaimed album sold a remarkable 4,224,016 copies during the same January-June timeframe.
Launched on March 20, the 14-track “Arirang” delves deep into BTS’s unique identity as a global group with Korean roots, exploring the universal emotions and experiences shared by its members throughout their influential careers.
While the Korea Popmusic Industry Association unveiled its comprehensive midyear data on Friday, the official Circle Chart website currently features the first-half update exclusively for its Global K-pop Chart.
Dominating the Global K-pop Chart, which meticulously tracks both domestic and international streaming data, was “Golden,” performed by the fictional girl group Huntr/x. This captivating track is featured in the hit Netflix animated film “KPop Demon Hunters” and impressively held the No. 1 position for an astonishing 38 consecutive weeks on the chart’s weekly iteration.
