SEOUL, April 21 () — Police said Tuesday they have filed for an arrest warrant for a former high-ranking executive of a major technology firm on charges of embezzlement and breach of trust. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced the significant legal action following an extensive investigation into alleged financial misconduct.
The suspect, whose identity has been withheld pending formal arrest, is accused of misappropriating company funds totaling several million dollars over an extended period. Investigators initiated their probe after an internal audit at the firm uncovered substantial financial irregularities and suspicious transactions.
The arrest warrant application has now been submitted to the Seoul Central District Court. The court will review the evidence presented by the police to determine whether to issue the formal warrant, which would authorize the executive’s detention for further questioning and legal proceedings. This move highlights ongoing efforts by South Korean authorities to combat corporate fraud and ensure accountability within the business sector.
