G-Dragon’s agency unveils ‘White Whole’ device and enter-tech vision, but feasibility remains uncertain
Galaxy Corp., the entertainment company famously known as G-Dragon’s agency, is set to revolutionize the K-pop industry with the introduction of its pioneering AI glasses and a robot-powered concert venue in Seoul. According to founder Choi Yong-ho, these ambitious “enter-tech” initiatives aim to launch by the end of this year, promising an unprecedented immersive fan experience.
During a press briefing in Seoul on Wednesday, Choi Yong-ho further detailed the company’s grand vision: to firmly establish Galaxy Corp. as a leading “entertainment technology” (enter-tech) firm through a series of innovative projects.
“To showcase our commitment as an enter-tech company, we are developing cutting-edge AI glasses in close collaboration with artists,” Choi explained. “These smart glasses will enable artists to directly communicate with their fanbase during live concerts and fan meetings, fostering deeper connections.”
Dubbed the “White Whole” device, a name conceptually inspired by the theoretical opposite of a black hole, these K-pop AI glasses are engineered to deliver real-time translation and unparalleled immersive fan experiences directly from the artist’s point of view.
The company highlights that international K-pop fans will benefit from real-time translation of artists’ speeches. Furthermore, the White Whole device can transmit live audio, including subtle breathing sounds and ambient stage noise, offering an intimate auditory experience directly from the artist’s perspective.
Equipped with an integrated camera, the AI glasses will project an artist’s direct line of sight onto large screens during performances. This innovative feature, Choi noted, aims to forge a truly interactive experience by seamlessly blending the artist’s visual perspective with their live sound and voice.
“Fandom, at its core, often feels like a one-sided love, and fans universally desire a closer connection with their idols,” Choi elaborated. “They yearn to hear every nuance, even an artist’s breathing. This is precisely the kind of deeply personal K-pop experience we are committed to delivering.”
The ambitious long-term vision for these innovative AI glasses includes seamless integration with advanced robotics.
“Within the next three to five years, we anticipate a future where personal robots are commonplace. The White Whole glasses could then serve as a primary controller for interacting with these robots,” he projected.
While Galaxy Corp. maintained confidentiality regarding the device’s manufacturer, it confirmed that the White Whole AI glasses are currently in development for mass production, targeting a launch later this year.
Beyond the AI glasses, Galaxy Corp. is also poised to inaugurate a massive robot park in Seoul’s Songpa-gu on May 5th, coinciding with Children’s Day. This extensive facility, covering approximately 16,500 square meters, will be progressively rolled out in multiple phases.
The initial phase of the robot park will unveil a dedicated K-pop robot arena, offering visitors the unique opportunity to experience K-pop concerts performed by robots.
“Our goal is to make K-pop concerts universally accessible through this robot technology,” Choi stated. “Families can visit, enjoy the performances, and even participate in K-pop dance learning sessions together.”
With multiple shows operating daily, Galaxy Corp. projects the venue could host over 1,000 robot K-pop performances annually, significantly increasing accessibility.
Galaxy Corp.’s ambitious portfolio further includes plans to debut a virtual idol group via an ongoing audition program. Additionally, an AI-powered music studio and an AI & robotics-integrated dance training space are under development, with both expected to launch within the next four months.
Acknowledging that these advanced enter-tech solutions are largely untested within the dynamic K-pop industry, raising pertinent questions about their long-term feasibility and sustainability, Choi underscored the critical importance of strategic timing and ongoing industry dialogue.
“The core questions revolve around the genuine need for this type of entertainment technology and the optimal timing for its introduction,” he concluded. “Ultimately, it’s about pioneering and presenting the right technological innovations at the most opportune moment for the K-pop ecosystem.”
