K-Pop April Comebacks: Star-Studded Lineup

K-Pop April Comebacks: Star-Studded Lineup

Packed April schedule brings rare intralabel clashes and industrywide releases

Tomorrow X Together (Big Hit Music)

April is shaping up to be a blockbuster month for K-pop comebacks, with a constellation of artists slated to release new music following BTS’ highly anticipated return.

The K-pop landscape is bracing for an intensely competitive season, as major agencies, rising rookie groups, and established soloists all gear up for releases within a compressed timeframe.

Notably, the April comeback rush will feature a unique dynamic within Hybe Corporation, as multiple acts under its umbrella prepare to release new material, leading to rare intralabel competition.

Boy group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) will kick off Hybe’s April releases on April 13 with their eighth EP, “7th Year: A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns.” Shortly after, girl group Le Sserafim will make their return with their first release in six months.

Rising boy group TWS is poised to continue their ascent with the release of their fifth EP “No Tragedy” on April 27. Meanwhile, girl group Illit will release its fourth EP “Mamihlapinatapai” on April 30, building on the viral momentum of their previous hits, “Overdrive” and “Not Cute Anymore.”

Ahead of their album “GreenGreen” slated for May 4, rookie act Cortis will drop their lead track “RedRed” on April 20.

Adding to the intrigue is the varied stakes for each Hybe group. For Tomorrow X Together, this comeback marks their first release since the members renewed their contracts in 2025. Le Sserafim, on the other hand, faces the challenge of expanding their global reach. And for newer acts like Cortis, maintaining the initial momentum is crucial.

The competition extends far beyond Hybe, with other major entertainment agencies also preparing releases for both established and emerging artists.

JYP Entertainment will be introducing new music, with rookie act KickFlip slated to release “My First Kick” on April 6. Band Xdinary Heroes, considered the successor to Day6, will also join the April lineup on April 17 with their eighth EP “Dead And.”

SM Entertainment is also joining the bandwagon with NCT Wish, who are set to release their first LP, “Ode to Love” on April 20, aiming to capitalize on the momentum built after strong sales last year.

K-pop groups from smaller agencies are also adding to the saturated schedule.

Girl group Kiss of Life is scheduled to return on April 6 with the physical single “Who Is She,” their first release since June 2025. Members have stated that they put significant effort into the album.

Virtual idol group Plave is also slated to return on April 13 with their fourth EP “Caligo Pt.2,” while boy band Close Your Eyes is set for a comeback later in the month.

The April releases are further diversified by solo artists, adding another layer of competitiveness.

T.O.P, formerly of Big Bang, is set to release his first solo LP “Another Dimension” on April 3. This release has garnered considerable attention as it marks his return to the music scene after a 13-year hiatus. Park Ji-hoon, a member of the project group Wanna One – recently successful in the movie “The King’s Warden” – is expected to make his solo comeback with the album “Re:flect” in late April.

Industry observers point to BTS’ comeback as a significant factor contributing to the concentrated releases in April. The group released their new album “Arirang” on March 20, marking their first full group comeback in three years.

With BTS dominating the charts and commanding public attention, many companies have strategically planned their releases for April to avoid direct competition.

“The crowded comeback schedule could lead to diluted chart performance as multiple artists, including those under the same label, compete for attention simultaneously,” pop culture critic Kim Sung-soo told The Korea Herald. “However, increased competition could also ultimately benefit the industry. With intensified competition, overall visibility for the market could increase, leading to an overall improvement in the quality of music and performances.”
