With only one day left until the group BTS’s (Bangtan Sonyeondan) Gwanghwamun performance, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) has issued a disaster alert for the venue.
The MCST announced on the 20th that it would issue a “Caution” stage disaster alert for performance venues in Jung-gu and Jongno-gu, Seoul, in connection with the BTS comeback performance to be held around Gwanghwamun on the 21st.
The alert period is from 7 AM on the 21st to 7 AM on the 22nd, the day of the performance. This is the first time the MCST has issued a disaster alert for a performance venue. This is due to the estimated maximum of 260,000 people expected to gather for this BTS performance.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Choi Hwi-young, personally inspected the preparation status and safety management at the Gwanghwamun site where the stage was set up and the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, where the situation management headquarters will be located, that morning.
He also checked the key support matters of the National Heritage Administration and reviewed safety management measures near the palaces.
Meanwhile, BTS will hold the ‘BTS Comeback Live: Arirang’ performance at Gwanghwamun Square at 8 PM on the 21st. It will be broadcast live worldwide via Netflix at the same time. Tune in to watch the BTS comeback live performance.
