South Korean singer Chancellor (born Kim Jung-seung) has reportedly been arrested on drug possession charges.
According to iZi on the 23rd, Chancellor was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department in Nagoya, Japan, in the early hours of the day, on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Law. He was reportedly arrested at a hotel room in Nagoya.
This news follows earlier reports that Simon (Park Jun-ho), formerly of the boy group Dalmatian and the producer of the Japanese girl group XG, was urgently arrested in Japan on suspicion of drug possession. Chancellor is reportedly one of the individuals arrested at the scene. Both are currently affiliated with XGALX.
Two employees of Avex, a major Japanese entertainment agency, were also reportedly arrested along with them.
According to local media outlets such as TBS and Fuji TV, the Metropolitan Police Department had been conducting a covert investigation for about a year after receiving an anonymous tip-off regarding cocaine and marijuana use. The arrests took place at a hotel in Nagoya where an XG performance was being held. Four bags of cocaine and one bag of marijuana were reportedly seized from the room.
Chancellor was previously a member of the hit-making production team Duble Sidekick. He married his wife, a flight attendant three years his junior, in 2022 and welcomed a daughter in October of last year.
