Singer and actor Park Yoochun announced that he has resolved legal disputes with his former agency and diligently paid his overdue taxes, leading to his removal from the list of tax delinquents. However, his former agency has come forward to refute these claims.
Park Yoochun’s former agency, LogbookTV, recently stated via its official social media that “we sent a certified letter demanding the immediate correction of factual inaccuracies and a public apology from the opposing party and their legal representatives.” The agency added, “However, as no corrections or revisions have been made to date, we are now disclosing the true facts.”
Regarding Park Yoochun’s previous claim that criminal cases have concluded, the agency clarified, “The cases involving Park Yoochun, his brother Park Yoohwan, and Kizuna Entertainment were transferred to the Uijeongbu District Prosecutor’s Office, Namyangju Branch, on June 15 and are currently under investigation by the prosecution; criminal proceedings are ongoing.”
Furthermore, they stated, “The assertion that all exclusive contract disputes have concluded is also false. Park Yoochun’s side argued that the dispute should be resolved through arbitration rather than civil court, citing an arbitration agreement clause in the exclusive contract. The court accepted this, ruling that the matter should be resolved according to arbitration procedures.” They emphasized, “This merely determined the procedure and jurisdiction for resolving the dispute, not its conclusion.”
The agency also added, “The exclusive management rights dispute is ongoing, and legal disputes related to his unauthorized departure have also not concluded.” However, the former agency stated, “While procedures were delayed for a long time due to an inability to ascertain Park Yoochun’s whereabouts after his unauthorized departure from the company, we plan to actively proceed through his current legal representatives.”
Regarding the high-value tax delinquency issue, they specifically claimed, “The statement that all issues have been resolved and his name removed from the list of high-value tax delinquents is also false.” The former agency disclosed, “As of July 9, the National Tax Service’s public records still show him on the list of high-value and habitual tax delinquents.”
The former agency warned, “The exclusive management rights dispute between us and the opposing party has not ended. There has been no lawful termination, and we intend to initiate disciplinary proceedings for the lawyers involved with the Korean Bar Association regarding the distribution of false information in the form of a press release.” They added, “We will take all possible civil and criminal legal actions for defamation, obstruction of business, and other damages.”
Park Yoochun was sued by his former agency for approximately 500 million won in damages due to a breach of his exclusive contract. It was also reported that he was included in the National Tax Service’s 2023 list of high-value and habitual tax delinquents, owing about 400 million won in taxes, including capital gains tax from 2016.
However, according to recent local reports, including from Japanese media outlet Sponichi Annex, Park Yoochun’s current agency announced on the 30th of last month that “all various lawsuits in Korea that have been ongoing for a long time have been amicably concluded.”
Park Yoochun’s legal representative also stated that the legal disputes with the former agency have been resolved, adding, “The agency plans to fully support his future entertainment activities and actively pursue various fields such as album releases, concerts, fan meetings, and TV appearances.”
