K-pop boy group 82MAJOR is ready to present a more mature side with their new track, ‘Sign’.
On the afternoon of April 28, 82MAJOR (Nam Sung-mo, Park Seok-jun, Yoon Ye-chan, Cho Seong-il, Hwang Seong-bin, Kim Do-gyun) held a celebratory showcase for the release of their fifth mini-album ‘FEELM’ at Yes24 Wonderlok Hall in Changcheon-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.
‘FEELM’ is a portmanteau of ‘Feel’ and ‘Film’, symbolizing a new album that captures various emotional moments like a single film reel. All members actively participated in the album’s overall production, including writing lyrics, composing, and arranging, showcasing their capabilities as ‘self-produced idols’.
The title track, ‘Sign’, explores the exchange of emotions and the growing closeness between two individuals, expressed through lyrics like ‘a signal that passes between you and me’. The song is characterized by its highly addictive hook and embodies 82MAJOR’s evolved, mature charm.

During the showcase, 82MAJOR conveyed remarkable confidence in ‘Sign’, noting that the song resonated with them from the very first listen. Nam Sung-mo shared, “From the moment I first heard the chorus, it kept looping in my head. I felt strongly that we had to choose this song as our title track to share it widely.”
‘Sign’ marks a significant departure from 82MAJOR’s previous musical endeavors. The group has embraced a distinctly different sound, showcasing an unprecedented and fresh charm. However, this new direction also brought a sense of pressure.
Hwang Seong-bin commented, “Challenging ourselves with new music was inherently fun. We always believe that for music to resonate with the public, we must first enjoy creating it. So, even when we first heard ‘Sign’ and decided on it, we felt that excitement. I hope this feeling of enjoyment is conveyed to the audience.”
Yoon Ye-chan confessed, “I did feel a bit of pressure. Honestly, it was a completely new style and concept for us, so it was challenging at first. But through practice and discussions with the members, I became more comfortable. It was indeed very difficult initially.” Kim Do-gyun added, “For this track, we emphasized ‘maturity’ as the key theme to match the mood. We tried various approaches to achieve this.”
The group also expressed confidence in the success of their B-side track, ‘W.T.F’. Yoon Ye-chan stated, “Even though it’s quite short, I believe it perfectly showcases our unique charm. There are a total of five songs on the new album, and ‘W.T.F’ is arguably the most ’82MAJOR-like’ track.”

Yoon Ye-chan also highlighted the members’ striking visuals and impressive physiques. When asked about 82MAJOR’s unique charm and differentiating factors, he confidently asserted, “I think our strong visuals and the fact that all members are tall could be a significant distinguishing point for us.”
Park Seok-jun further elaborated, “We enjoy creating our own music, and we are genuinely passionate about and truly enjoy the songwriting process. I believe this is another unique aspect of our group. That’s why we are deeply involved in creating our tracks, with most of our B-side songs being written and composed by us.”
When questioned about an artist he’d like to collaborate with for a new song challenge, Nam Sung-mo responded, “I’d love to do it with actor Lee Byung-hun. I feel our key choreography bears a resemblance to a scene from his movie ‘Inside Men’, and it would be really fun to try it together.”
Park Seok-jun then described the choreography, “In the chorus, we incorporate wrist movements. The key is to dance as if the second hand of a watch on our wrist is ticking.” He then expressed his gratitude to BTS’s Jungkook, saying, “BTS’s Jungkook sunbaenim gave us a shout-out on our SNS. He reposted our content, and I felt so incredibly touched and thankful that I would truly love to do a challenge with him.”

Finally, 82MAJOR disclosed their goals for this album’s activities and the metrics they hope to achieve. Hwang Seong-bin revealed, “This entire album speaks extensively about love. I hope that when people listen to our songs, they can give and receive love to and from one another. We want them to exchange and share love, and also to reflect on the various forms of love we explore.”
Cho Seong-il expressed his aspirations, “This comeback season is incredibly competitive. Amidst this, we aim to showcase our music and performances to as many people as possible. This time, we hope to achieve good results on music shows and also enter the charts to widely promote our music to a broad audience.”
82MAJOR’s fifth mini-album ‘FEELM’ is set to be released on April 28 at 6 PM KST across various online music platforms.
