Cravity Unveils Darker Concept and Personal Narratives in New EP ‘Redefine,’ Featuring Title Track ‘Awake’
K-pop boy group Cravity makes a highly anticipated return with their eighth EP, **“Redefine,”** a significant release marking six years into their dynamic career. This latest project sees the group thoughtfully re-examining their identity, not by discarding their journey so far, but by building upon their rich experiences and moving forward.
Prior to the EP’s official launch, the nine-member K-pop sensation convened for an exclusive interview at Starship Entertainment’s headquarters in Gangnam-gu, southern Seoul, on April 23. The members openly shared their enthusiasm for the new album, particularly significant as its release coincides with the anniversary of Cravity’s debut.
Cravity leader Wonjin emphasized the album’s profound significance, stating, “The new upcoming album holds special meaning for us, as it’s Cravity’s first release since we initiated a rebranding with our second LP, ‘Dare to Crave,’ last year.”
In June 2025, Cravity underwent a pivotal rebranding, coinciding with their fifth anniversary and marking the beginning of a new artistic chapter. This strategic evolution allowed them to reshape their group identity and image, transitioning from an experimental approach to one that embodies a fervent hunger for growth and deeper artistic expression.
The EP’s evocative title, **“Redefine,”** perfectly encapsulates this artistic transition, symbolizing the group’s dedicated effort to reinterpret and reshape their current identity. The album intricately weaves together themes of anxiety, recovery, hesitation, and unwavering determination, portraying the journey of youth pressing onward despite facing inner turmoil.
For group leader Wonjin, this concept resonated on a deeply personal level.
He candidly admitted, “Looking back, I don’t believe I consistently prioritized myself or embraced my individual self sufficiently. Even with the immense love and support from our dedicated fans, I often questioned if I truly merited such affection. Through the creation of this album, I’ve had the invaluable opportunity to introspect and delve deeper into my identity, both as a member of Cravity and as an individual.”

Member Taeyoung highlighted another key aspect of **“Redefine,”** stating the album signifies a powerful return to one of Cravity’s foundational strengths: captivating performance.
He elaborated, “Since our debut, Cravity has consistently delivered powerful performances. We later ventured into a more refreshing style, showcasing a distinct charm different from our initial choreography-driven image. With **‘Redefine,’** we are proudly embracing a darker concept, aiming to powerfully remind our audience of our unparalleled capabilities on stage.”
This intensified focus on performance and concept is exceptionally evident in the album’s compelling main track, **“Awake.”** This alternative pop anthem explores the profound realization that what appears to be an ending can, in fact, blossom into a new beginning. Cravity members Serim and Allen actively contributed to writing the lyrics, infusing the song with the group’s raw and authentic emotions.
The Cravity members emphasized their meticulous attention to choreography, focusing not only on refining their signature synchronized moves but also on showcasing individual expression and unique styles within the broader stage formations.
Wonjin passionately declared, “Our ultimate aspiration was to reignite public memory of our cherished early nickname, ‘Perfor-vity,’” a testament to Cravity’s long-standing reputation for exceptional performance. He continued, “Even as we perfected our synchronized movements, we made a conscious effort to preserve each member’s distinct style. Being a nine-member group, we meticulously focused on ensuring every individual detail contributed to a cohesive and striking overall visual.”
This profound emphasis on performance seamlessly intertwines with the title track’s core message. **“Awake”** masterfully utilizes the stage as a powerful medium to articulate how each Cravity member confronts and navigates their personal fears. In the visually compelling music video for the song, member Hyeongjun revealed how these individual fears profoundly influenced their respective performance approaches.
Hyeongjun elaborated on his personal struggle, stating, “My particular fear was intimately connected to the societal role I perceive myself as fulfilling. I firmly believe that one of my inherent roles is to support and assist others, and I vividly imagined the profound terror I would experience if that role were suddenly to vanish. I consciously endeavored to channel those intense emotions directly into my stage performance.”
Ultimately, for all the Cravity bandmates, the courageous act of expressing these deeply personal fears powerfully underscores the album’s overarching central idea: true growth is cultivated not by shying away from uncertainty, but by directly confronting it and resolutely forging ahead.
