eBay Japan recently announced that K-beauty products have demonstrated remarkable dominance across various beauty categories on its prominent online marketplace, Qoo10 Japan.
The platform’s data reveals a strong performance, with Korean brands successfully securing all top five positions in highly competitive segments such as hand care, lip makeup, and eye shadow.
In the hand care category, products like Hetras’s Perfume Hand Cream, Abib’s Hand Cream, and MD’s Pick’s De Barista Unscented Sun Shield Hand Cream were among the leading five. These Korean beauty hand creams are particularly sought after for their innovative combination of portability and advanced functionality, featuring lightweight textures, compact designs ideal for on-the-go use, and essential added UV protection.
The lip makeup segment saw products like Aprilskin’s Hero All Day Plumping Tint, Fwee’s Spring Makeup Set, and Peripera’s Mood Glowy Tint emerge as top contenders. Consumer demand in this area is primarily driven by products offering long-lasting color payoff and versatile, multi-use formats that cater to diverse cosmetic needs.
Korean eye shadow palettes also captivated the market, with Wakemake’s Soft Blurring Eye Palette and TooAen’s Better Me Eye Palette leading the charge. Multifunctional items, such as Too Cool for School’s Artclass Frottage Pencil, further cemented K-beauty’s influence. Shoppers are increasingly favoring versatile palettes and compact, travel-friendly designs for their eye makeup solutions.
The blush category also witnessed strong interest in Korean brands, with TooAen’s Dual Cheek, About Tone Skin’s Layer Fit Cheek, and Jung Saem Mool’s Artist Cushion Blush ranking among the top sellers. These products distinguished themselves through innovative textures and multi-functional applications, including liquid and cushion formats that can seamlessly double as a lip base.
Korean beauty offerings also achieved significant success through Qoo10 Japan’s “Mega Debut” program, designed to support emerging Korean brands entering the Japanese market. Skincare products, particularly those focused on brightening and comprehensive skin conditioning, ranked exceptionally well, alongside a growing interest in inner beauty products.
“With increasing temperature fluctuations, the demand for effective moisturizing products is on the rise. K-beauty hand creams, in particular, are garnering immense popularity among younger Japanese consumers,” stated Kim Sua, head of Korea business at eBay Japan. “The combination of competitive pricing and superior quality has positioned these products as highly attractive entry points for new Korean brands seeking to establish a presence in the market.”
