LG Electronics is significantly expanding its presence in the crucial artificial intelligence (AI) data center infrastructure market. The tech giant is rolling out its latest advancements in cooling and energy optimization, aiming to establish its heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) business as a key growth driver in the business-to-business sector.

The company proudly showcased its comprehensive portfolio at Data Center World 2026, a premier industry event held in Washington, where leading global technology firms convene to discuss the future of AI infrastructure and energy efficiency in data centers.

A cornerstone of LG’s innovative strategy is its cutting-edge liquid cooling technology, vital for managing the escalating heat and power demands generated by intensive AI workloads. LG introduced an enhanced coolant distribution unit (CDU) featuring a direct-to-chip design, which efficiently routes coolant directly over microchips for superior heat dissipation.

This advanced system boasts an impressive cooling capacity, more than doubling to 1.4 megawatts. Furthermore, integrated inverter-based pumps and sophisticated virtual sensor technology work in synergy to optimize energy consumption and ensure consistently stable operational performance for AI data centers.

Venturing into the rapidly evolving immersion cooling segment, LG is forging strategic partnerships with industry leaders Green Revolution Cooling and SK Enmove. This groundbreaking technology involves submerging servers in non-conductive fluid, offering a highly efficient alternative for ultra-high-density computing environments.

Beyond its innovative liquid cooling solutions, LG is also enhancing its traditional air cooling lineup. This includes energy-optimized chillers specifically designed to precisely control both temperature and humidity within critical server rooms. These robust systems are built upon LG’s proprietary core components, such as advanced compressors and air handling units, ensuring reliability and performance.

To provide a unified approach, LG offers a sophisticated data center cooling management platform. This platform delivers real-time monitoring capabilities and facilitates predictive maintenance, proactively helping prevent potential system failures and ensuring continuous operation of vital AI infrastructure.

Energy optimization remains a paramount concern as data centers’ power consumption continues to surge. Addressing this, LG introduced an advanced energy management platform, developed in collaboration with PADO. This solution is engineered to meticulously monitor and intelligently redistribute energy across both cooling and power systems, maximizing overall efficiency.

In a parallel initiative, LG is actively developing an innovative direct current (DC) grid solution alongside LG Energy Solution, LS Electric, and LS Cable & System. This collaborative effort aims to significantly reduce power conversion losses from approximately 25 percent to a more efficient 15 percent, further enhancing the sustainability of data center operations.

This strategic push underscores LG’s broader commitment to delivering end-to-end solutions — encompassing everything from advanced thermal management to intelligent energy control. As AI data centers increasingly become a critical battleground for global tech infrastructure, LG aims to be a leading total solution provider.

“Leveraging our total solution capabilities, we will continue to expand business opportunities in the burgeoning AI data center HVAC market,” stated Lee Jae-sung, head of LG Electronics’ eco solutions division, emphasizing the company’s vision for future growth.
