BTS’s V has earned high praise from a world-renowned saxophonist for his impromptu saxophone performance, drawing global attention.
Jacob Scesney, a multi-Grammy Award-winning saxophonist, recently stirred excitement by commenting on a video of V playing the saxophone. Scesney boasts an impressive resume, having collaborated with acclaimed artists such as Maroon 5, Jonas Brothers, Shawn Mendes, and John Legend. He also contributed to V’s critically acclaimed solo album, ‘Layover’.
In September 2023, V captivated audiences on a special episode of ‘Tiny Desk Korea,’ where he performed live versions of tracks from his ‘Layover’ album, including fan favorites ‘Love Me Again,’ ‘Slow Dancing,’ and ‘For Us.’ Jacob Scesney, who joined V as a band member for the performance, immediately updated his Instagram profile to ‘Tae-Band musician’ after the show, a clear sign of his satisfaction with their collaboration. He further expressed his admiration for V, adding, “You can play my saxophone anytime.”

Recently, Jacob Scesney commented on a fan-posted video showcasing V’s saxophone skills. He shared, “V played wonderfully, and after the live session, he very politely asked if he could try playing my saxophone. My saxophone is actually quite challenging to play; it requires a lot of lung capacity and significant jaw pressure due to its setup. Yet, he played it incredibly well!”
Scesney added, “You can see me laughing in the background because I was so touched. That moment wasn’t rehearsed or prepared at all. V simply picked up the saxophone and started playing, and the band naturally joined in. It was a truly wonderful moment, and I’m happy to hear that scene brought so much joy to fans.”
It is known that V studied the saxophone for approximately four years, starting in his first year of middle school. Despite V mentioning he hadn’t played the instrument for a long time, Jacob Scesney’s effusive praise strongly affirms that V still possesses remarkable and outstanding playing skills.
