Global music icon Jennie, a member of the acclaimed group BLACKPINK, has been officially named to the prestigious Time 100 list in the Artists category. This significant recognition, announced Wednesday (U.S. time), places her among influential global figures spanning politics, culture, and sports.
Jennie made a monumental impact last year with her solo album, “Ruby.” The album achieved a historic milestone for a K-pop female solo artist, simultaneously charting three tracks on the highly competitive Billboard Hot 100.
Grammy-nominated American musician Gracie Abrams lauded Jennie in Time magazine, describing her as “a star.” Abrams further praised “the magic at her core” that captivatingly draws audiences, whether she’s performing live on stage, captivating viewers on screen, or working diligently behind the scenes.
Abrams elaborated on Jennie’s profound impact, stating, “What makes Jennie a true star is that even in her quiet moments, she possesses the same kind of undeniable presence that cuts through all the noise, and she carries that with kindness and warmth.”
The 2026 Time 100 list also highlights other notable Korean Americans, including acclaimed musician Anderson .Paak and Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim. Kim earned particular praise for her resilience, competing through an injury at this year’s Winter Olympics despite narrowly missing her third consecutive gold medal.
Prominent global leaders also featured on the list include U.S. President Donald Trump, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, all recognized for their significant influence.
