BTS Jungkook Sets New Asian Record: 142 Weeks on Billboard Global Chart

BTS member Jungkook continues to make history, consistently setting new benchmarks across major global music charts, including Billboard and Spotify.

According to the ‘Global 200’ chart, released by the esteemed US music media outlet Billboard on April 11th, Jungkook’s highly anticipated first solo debut single, ‘Seven,’ secured the 165th position.

On the very same date, ‘Seven’ also charted impressively at 89th on the ‘Global (Excl. US)’ chart. With ‘Seven,’ Jungkook has marked an unprecedented achievement, charting on the ‘Global 200’ for a remarkable 139 consecutive weeks. This establishes him as the first and longest-charting Asian group or solo artist in the chart’s history. Furthermore, his dominance extends to the ‘Global (Excl. US)’ chart, where ‘Seven’ has remained for an astonishing 142 weeks, solidifying his status as the first and longest-charting Asian solo artist on that tally as well.

‘Seven’ showcased its sustained popularity by ranking 52nd on the Billboard Korea ‘Hot 100’ chart, showing an increase from the previous week and maintaining its position for 15 weeks.

Jungkook’s powerful presence on Billboard’s ‘Global K-Songs’ chart is evident, with ‘Seven’ at 21st, ‘Standing Next To You’ at 47th, and ‘3D’ at 65th, all charting for 19 weeks. Remarkably, Jungkook has achieved the coveted No. 1 spot on both the ‘Global 200’ and ‘Global (Excl. US)’ charts with all three of these phenomenal tracks.

Jungkook’s remarkable streak of long-term records extends to Spotify as well. ‘Seven’ has entered Spotify’s main chart, ‘Weekly Top Song Global,’ for an incredible 143 consecutive weeks, making it the first and longest-charting song by an Asian solo artist. Furthermore, it’s the first track by an Asian artist, and the first released in 2023, to surpass a staggering 2.879 billion streams. On Spotify’s daily chart, ‘Daily Top Song Global,’ ‘Seven’ achieved another unique milestone by remaining on the chart for an astonishing 1000 days, making it the first and only song by an Asian artist to accomplish this feat.

Jungkook’s influence is also recognized by prestigious awards; he holds the record for the most trophies received by a K-Pop solo artist at the Billboard Music Awards, having earned three awards over two years. His global prominence was further cemented by ranking No. 1 on Billboard’s ‘2024 Billboard K-Pop Artist 100’ and being included in the esteemed ‘Best Pop Stars of 2023’ list. Adding to these accolades, the official music video for ‘Seven’ has surpassed an impressive 600 million views.
