Santos Bravos, Hybe Latin America’s dynamic five-member boy group, is making waves in the global music scene. Comprised of talent from the United States, Peru, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and Mexico, the group was forged through Hybe Latin America’s intense global survival audition series, “Santos Bravos.” Debuting last October under Hybe, the quintet underwent rigorous K-pop-style training, embodying Hybe’s innovative “multihome, multigenre” strategy.
Seamlessly fusing the infectious energy of Latin pop with the meticulous precision of K-pop, Santos Bravos has rapidly garnered attention for its fresh, cross-cultural approach to contemporary pop music. Since their debut with the single “0%” in Mexico, their unique sound and compelling performances have captivated audiences worldwide.
During a recent media event held at the Hybe headquarters in Seoul, member Kaue expressed profound gratitude for the K-pop training methodology, hailing it as “the best possible system” for fostering unparalleled group synergy and individual growth. This intensive training has been pivotal in shaping Santos Bravos’ cohesive identity.
“The challenging K-pop methodology instilled in us immense discipline — teaching us invaluable lessons on how to effectively work, manage our time, and continuously push our own limits,” Kaue elaborated. “It profoundly helped us understand that our efforts extend beyond ourselves; we strive to become better artists for our dedicated fans.”
Drew reflected on the transformative six-month boot camp, which began with sixteen hopeful trainees and culminated in the final five members. “Without that structured environment, it would have been impossible to form our definitive lineup,” he stated. This intense daily practice schedule, a routine largely unprecedented in the Latin music industry, profoundly aided the members’ “physical and mental” development, forging them into the artists they are today.
Kenneth underscored a core principle gleaned from the K-pop methodology: “if you work hard, you can achieve anything.” This powerful message of perseverance and success is precisely what Santos Bravos aspires to share with the global audience through their music and performances.
The acclaimed quintet arrived in Seoul on Saturday for an exciting three-week visit to vigorously promote “Dual,” their highly anticipated first EP, which was released last month. This marks their inaugural trip to Korea since their impactful debut, with a packed schedule including appearances on prominent television K-pop chart programs and various radio shows, aiming to connect with Korean fans.
The six-track EP, “Dual,” showcases an eclectic sound palette, brilliantly blending reggaeton, vibrant Brazilian funk, and modern club sounds. This musical diversity perfectly encapsulates the band’s intriguing duality – a charmingly lighthearted boyish allure seamlessly paired with fierce, instinctive artistic energy.
“‘Dual’ was an exceptionally special project for us,” Kaue affirmed, “not merely because it’s our debut EP, but also because it presented a monumental opportunity to introduce our unique music and art to the world. It powerfully demonstrates how versatile we truly are as artists.”
Addressing the reception in Latin America, Gabi acknowledged that the group is navigating a process of being fully understood as they innovatively merge traditional Latin rhythms with distinct K-pop elements. Despite its novelty, the burgeoning support from their dedicated fanbase across the region has been nothing short of amazing, he added.
Looking to the future, Alejandro shared the group’s ambitious dream: to perform on major stages in each of the members’ diverse home countries, cementing their status as a truly global phenomenon.
To realize this expansive goal, Gabi emphasized the profound significance of promoting their EP in Korea. “Beyond being recognized solely in Latin America, our ultimate aspiration is to reach and resonate with audiences across the entire world,” he declared. “We have dedicated immense effort to this pursuit, and we sincerely hope that fans here in Korea will warmly embrace us as well.”
