In a bold and strategic departure from prevailing hiring trends, Hyosung Group has launched a groundbreaking recruitment program exclusively for humanities majors. This innovative move stands out in a contemporary job market that has increasingly favored graduates in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Hyosung Group, a diversified global conglomerate with extensive operations spanning textiles, chemicals, power grids, and construction, is actively seeking new talent. According to its official website, the company is now accepting applications for exciting career opportunities from recent college graduates and those expected to graduate in August, specifically with degrees in humanities and liberal arts disciplines.

Eligible applicants include those majoring in a wide array of humanities fields such as history, philosophy, and aesthetics. The program also extends to language and literature programs, encompassing specialties like Korean language and literature, and English language and literature, among others.

“With over 80 percent of the company’s sales generated from international markets, we are eager to attract candidates who possess a global mindset, exceptional communication skills, and the comprehensive critical thinking fostered by a broad liberal arts education,” a company source elaborated.

Hyosung Group clarified that this current recruitment drive is not tied to specific predetermined positions. Instead, successful applicants will benefit from a dynamic placement process, where they will be strategically assigned to business functions that best leverage their individual skills and align with the company’s evolving needs upon joining.

This pioneering initiative marks a significant historical moment for Hyosung, as it is the first time the conglomerate has launched an exclusive recruitment program specifically for humanities majors since its founding in 1966.

The forward-thinking program directly reflects the distinctive management philosophy championed by Hyosung Chairman Cho Hyun-joon. A political science alumnus himself, Chairman Cho has consistently emphasized the crucial importance of seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technological expertise with profound insights derived from the humanities.

Chairman Cho Hyun-joon has frequently articulated his belief that a robust humanities-based perspective empowers individuals to more effectively comprehend societal and market changes, adeptly navigate complex challenges, and accurately identify emerging opportunities precisely when they matter most.
