K-pop sensation Sana of TWICE is set to make her highly anticipated big-screen acting debut, starring alongside acclaimed Japanese actor Takeru Satoh, as confirmed by her agency JYP Entertainment on Wednesday.
This significant milestone marks Sana’s first venture into acting, coming 11 years after her successful debut as a beloved member of the globally recognized nine-member K-pop girl group, TWICE.
The upcoming film, titled “Nyangi,” is a major joint production between Japan and South Korea, and will be helmed by director Kwon Hyuk-chan, promising a unique cultural collaboration.
In “Nyangi,” Sana will portray a captivating character – a cat who makes the extraordinary decision to transform into a human in order to connect with the other main character, played by Takeru Satoh.
Fans may recall that Takeru Satoh previously made a special appearance in the teaser video for Misamo’s highly anticipated first studio album, “Play.” Misamo is the popular TWICE subunit comprising Sana, Mina, and Momo, further highlighting the artistic connection.
Before her cinematic debut, Sana is set to rejoin her fellow TWICE members on stage for the climactic final three performances of their monumental “This Is For” world tour, running from Friday through Sunday. This record-breaking, year-long global tour stands as their largest to date, having captivated audiences across 44 cities and through an impressive 81 shows.
