LG AI Research showcased the groundbreaking industrial applications of its advanced **Exaone AI model** at this week’s **International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) in Seoul**. The company highlighted 14 research papers, alongside commercially deployed **AI-discovered industrial materials**, an innovative **AI stock analysis agent**, and a powerful **AI data generation platform**.
Notably, this prestigious **International Conference on Machine Learning** marked its inaugural event in Korea.
Recognized as one of the top three global conferences dedicated to **AI and machine learning**, **ICML 2026** convened from Monday through Saturday at Coex in southern Seoul.
At the heart of LG’s exhibit was its pioneering work in **AI-powered new material discovery**. The company proudly presented samples of **Rhamsydil**, an innovative **AI-discovered hair loss treatment ingredient**, and an advanced **immersion cooling fluid** specifically designed for **AI data centers**. Both breakthrough materials were developed using LG’s sophisticated **Exaone Discovery platform**.
Developed in collaboration with LG Household & Health Care, **Rhamsydil** emerged from an astonishing screening process where LG’s AI rapidly analyzed over 420,000 candidate compounds in just one day. This promising **hair loss treatment** stands out for its efficacy without steroid-derived components, a significant advancement confirmed by results presented at the World Congress for Hair Research. **Rhamsydil** is currently on track for commercialization.
The **AI-developed immersion cooling fluid** for **data centers** was a result of a successful co-development with GS Caltex. Both companies are committed to expanding their joint research and development in advanced materials.
The proprietary **Exaone Discovery platform** leverages advanced **AI capabilities** to interpret complex molecular structures from vast scientific literature. It then intelligently designs novel candidate compounds precisely tailored to meet specific performance targets. Earlier this year, LG secured a patent for this innovative process, which is now actively applied across various critical sectors, including **cosmetics**, **batteries**, **semiconductor materials**, and **pharmaceutical drug research**.
Shifting to the financial sector, LG showcased **Exaone BI**, its cutting-edge **AI agent for financial analysis**. This powerful tool analyzes approximately 8,000 stocks listed daily in both Korean and US markets, delivering highly accurate prediction scores and generating comprehensive, analyst-level commentary. Demonstrating its commercial viability, LG initiated a US market prediction service with the London Stock Exchange Group earlier this year. This week, the company further expanded its financial AI footprint by signing a contract with Koscom to launch a corresponding service for the Korean market.
The third pivotal platform unveiled was **Exaone Data Foundry**, an **AI-powered system** engineered to generate high-quality training data and autonomously construct domain-specific models. LG reports that this innovative solution dramatically enhances data productivity by a remarkable thousandfold or more, while simultaneously boosting data quality by an average of over 20 percent. A successful pilot program with the National Pension Service underscored its efficiency, where the system generated more than 10,000 specialized data records daily.
“Exaone has evolved beyond an experimental phase; it now stands as an expert **AI solution** actively delivering on-site answers and insights,” affirmed Lim Woo-hyung, co-CEO of LG AI Research. He further emphasized, “Our strategy is to lead the **global AI landscape** by being a first-mover, specifically targeting the resolution of complex industrial challenges.”
Among the 14 research papers presented, LG prominently featured its advanced **generative AI technology for new materials**. This cutting-edge AI impressively secured second place worldwide on LeMat-GenBench, a highly respected benchmark assessing the stability, novelty, and diversity of **AI-generated crystal structures**.
Since its inception in December 2020, **LG AI Research** has established itself as a prolific innovator, publishing an impressive 363 papers at top-tier **AI conferences** globally. Furthermore, the institute has filed a remarkable 838 patent applications, comprising 371 in Korea, 243 internationally, and an additional 224 via the international PCT system, underscoring its commitment to intellectual property and **AI advancement**.
Leveraging the prestige of the conference, LG AI Research also actively engaged in recruitment efforts. The company hosted an exclusive “LG AI Day” networking event on Tuesday, connecting with approximately 60 master’s and doctoral researchers attending **ICML**, aiming to attract top-tier **AI talent**.
“True **AI leadership** is forged by the individuals who develop the most advanced technologies,” stated co-CEO Lee Hong-rak. He concluded, “Our vision is to cultivate a premier **global AI research hub** by establishing a system that provides our researchers with an unparalleled experimental environment, access to exceptional data, and comprehensive mentoring.”
