K-pop icon Taeyeon is set to delight fans with her much-anticipated remake of Japanese musician Tuki.’s chart-topping hit, “Bansanka,” launching on June 29. This exciting news was officially announced by her agency, SM Entertainment, on Wednesday.
This special release marks the inaugural track of the innovative “J-Pop Remake” project, a unique initiative that invites prominent Korean vocalists to offer their fresh interpretations of beloved and well-known Japanese songs.
The original “Bansanka” track served as the lead single for rising singer-songwriter Tuki.’s debut studio album, released last year. Initially unveiled as a single in 2024, Tuki.’s “Bansanka” quickly ascended to the top of both Billboard Japan’s Hot 100 and Oricon’s Combined Singles Ranking, solidifying its status as a massive hit. It also made a significant global impact, charting impressively at No. 253 on Billboard’s Global 200 ranking.
This upcoming remake follows a busy period for Taeyeon, who celebrated her tenth successful year as a solo singer last December. Her milestone was marked by the release of her acclaimed compilation album, “Panorama: The Best of Taeyeon,” alongside a special exhibit in Seoul, all capping off an extensive eight-city tour across Asia.
