Woori Bank is set to revolutionize the travel experience for international visitors to South Korea by launching a dedicated digital wallet in the latter half of this year. This innovative solution aims to significantly simplify payments and enhance access to essential local financial services for overseas tourists.

To achieve this, Woori Bank announced a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Crosshub, a cutting-edge fintech startup. This partnership, solidified on Wednesday, focuses on jointly developing advanced financial services specifically designed to overcome common payment challenges faced by foreign visitors traveling in Korea.

Under this collaborative agreement, the two companies will introduce a comprehensive digital wallet. Foreign customers will be able to effortlessly make payments for transportation, delivery services, and shopping across South Korea. The convenience is further streamlined by a simple registration process requiring only a passport and preferred payment method.

Complementing the digital wallet, a new prepaid card will also be introduced. This card offers foreigners the flexibility to top up with their native currency, providing a seamless and secure way to manage expenses while in Korea.

Looking towards future innovations, Woori Bank and Crosshub will also conduct pilot tests on domestic payment environments utilizing foreign currency-backed stablecoins. This forward-thinking initiative will assess the viability of developing robust infrastructure to further enhance payment convenience for a global clientele.

Crosshub, recognized as a leading participant in Woori Financial Group’s prestigious startup support program, DINNOlab, brings formidable expertise to the partnership. The company has garnered significant accolades, including the “Best of Innovation Award” at CES 2026 and being designated a “future unicorn” by the Ministry of Science and ICT, cementing its reputation for pioneering fintech technologies.

This landmark agreement marks the beginning of Woori Bank’s expanded strategy to collaborate with promising DINNOlab companies. The bank is committed to continuously launching innovative financial service models through strategic alliances with dynamic startups.

An official from Woori Bank’s Digital Innovation Unit emphasized the core objective: “This partnership is a pivotal step towards enhancing financial accessibility and ensuring unparalleled payment convenience for all foreigners visiting Korea. We are dedicated to pioneering digital finance.”

“Moving forward, Woori Bank will intensify its collaborations with innovative startups, thereby strengthening our competitive edge and leadership in the evolving landscape of digital finance,” the official added.
