Leading South Korean food delivery platform, Baemin, a service by Woowa Brothers, is revolutionizing accessibility for international users by becoming the first in the nation to accept overseas Apple Pay cards. This significant upgrade responds to a dramatic surge in foreign demand, making the vibrant Korean food delivery experience more accessible than ever for visitors and residents alike.
Starting June 2, this pivotal change will expand Apple Pay functionality beyond Korea-issued cards to embrace major global payment networks. International users can now seamlessly use cards from Visa, Mastercard, JCB, and American Express, simplifying transactions for millions worldwide on the Baemin app.
A company official highlighted the strategic importance of this move, stating, “The integration of overseas Apple Pay card support, coupled with our expanding multilingual offerings, is designed to significantly ease the process for international visitors wanting to fully experience Korea’s unique food delivery culture through Baemin.”
This crucial payment enhancement arrives amidst undeniable evidence of surging international engagement. Foreign payment methods on the platform saw delivery orders jump nearly 3.7-fold in the first quarter compared to the previous year. Even more impressively, transaction volume from overseas payments in April skyrocketed approximately 14 times year-over-year, underscoring the growing global interest in Baemin’s services.
The addition of overseas Apple Pay is a cornerstone of Baemin’s wider initiative to cater to non-Korean speakers. This includes the successful rollout of comprehensive English, Chinese, and Japanese language support earlier this year. Leveraging advanced artificial intelligence, Baemin ensures more accurate and context-aware translations across the entire app, enhancing the user experience for a diverse global audience.
Further demonstrating its commitment to inclusivity, Baemin released an English version of its visual user manual in May. Initially designed to assist elderly users and individuals with developmental disabilities, this resource further simplifies platform navigation, with Baemin committed to continuously expanding accessibility features across all its services to welcome every user.
